Buy the "Willmaker" off e-bay ($25-$30). Make your own trust. Easy and fast.

Don't do that. Buying a will or a trust on the Internet is a massive risk. Texas has trust attorneys for a reason. That's because the verbiage must be specific to hold up in the State of Texas. The rules of Contestability in this state are enormous. If it's worth having, spend the money and do it right. Do not skip steps to save a little money today... It could cost you a fortune tomorrow.

Go to a class 3 dealer, pay the money, fill out the proper paper work, get vetted, understand your roll in this choice, and be patient. If you can't afford it, don't do it. Have some will power and if it's important enough to you... Save for it.

And did you know that it is technically illegal to posses a suppressor in the state of Texas? Our laws are so jacked up sometimes.

DJ - there are a couple of class III dealers here in Bryan-College Station. I went through the LEO signoff route since the Sheriff and my dad worked many a yrs together. But here was my process...

Feb. 25th 2011 - had an appt with a Class III dealer and he explained everything from the suppressor to all the paperwork. I ended up picking out a suppressor and paid for it right there. We filled out the couple forms and he gave me some paperwork to take to the Sheriff. I drove over to the Sherrif's office and they told me they would call me back with an appt time. At this time they also fingerprinted me for $10 cash.

March 11th - I get a call from the Sherrif asking when a time would be good for me. I told him I could come then and headed that way. He signed the paperwork, asked me a few questions on what I'd be using it for and where it would be stored. He stressed on the storage. I've got a safe, but he wanted to know exactly where. Was in his office 10 mins. Afterwards, headed back to my Class III dealer to drop off the paperwork and drop off a check for $200 for the ATF.

The supressor was on order, but it took about a month and a half to come in to the Class III dealer.

May 24th - ATF cashed the $200 check. Now my waiting time begins.

It took 4 months 3 weeks and 2 days before my tax stamp came in. What a loooooong wait. The best thing to do is forget you bought it! However, that thing is bad arse.

I'll probably go the trust route next time so my dad can carry/use the next suppressor. If I can carry over my current suppressor on the trust, I'll do it.

By the way, if you want to shoot one before buying, head this way one weekend and we'll go tear something up.

I was told the Sheriff of the county you live in. From what I've found on the internet a local chief law enforcement (Sheriff, Police Chief).

I beg to differ on the "worthless unless you shoot subsonic" comment. I currently shoot regular supersonic .308 ammo through mine and it doesn't require any hearing protection whatsoever. The best way I can describe it, is it "throws" most of report of the sound downrange at what you are shooting at. My 10/22 unsuppressed shooting supersonic ammo is louder than my .308 suppressed shooting supersonic ammo.

I haven't yet got my hands on subsonic .308 ammo, but can't wait. The 10/22 suppressed with subsonic ammo is CRAZY quiet!

I would not get one for a 223. They still crack. Check out 300 Blackout. Same lower 30 calibre subsonic

+1. She is sending me the paperwork that I need to have the Sheriff sign off on today. Also have to get my finger prints taken. You then send the paperwork and a $200 check off in the mail. Then sit and wait.

Bill and Michelle were out at my place over the last 2 weekends. We had to clear out some of the pigs while walking to the blind in the dark. You can still hear the gun but you don't need hearing protection. Michelle even killed a buck out of that stand within 1.5 hours of shooting the pigs with a tack driving Accuracy International 308.

Has to be the CLEO in your county. (Chief Law Enforcement Officer) typically the county sheriff. And some won't sign off.

Trust is much easier and allows for tons of flexibility that CLEO sign off doesn't allow.
