I am starting to think that all the professionals are wrong.....everything they say does not exist anymore is seen all over East Texas.
yep you can add BigFoot to that too when talking about East TX

Probably coy dogs. The ones I see around our place are much bigger than coyotes.

I hate to be the one to call BS, but I'm just not convinced that what all these guys are seeing are, indeed, wolves. They have been extinct in Texas for nearly 100 years, perhaps there are remnants mixed in with dogs, coydogs, and coyotes but I'm very skeptical that there are "wolves in Texas."

1984 in Corrigan Tx 18 miles out of town I shot what I thought was a huge Coyote but after the shot two more ran under my stand and they were just the same size as the dead one, and it was a wolf. 86 pounds and no doubt it was a wolf and it had two that got away with it. So there were a few left in 1984 so who knows what may still be out there. And I have been to Alaska and seen the larger version and I have a 120 pound Great Pyrenees here at the house so i know what a big dog looks like. And over the years I do belive I have seen a few others in the area as well.

I posted a thread about this after opening weekend of bow season. I had never hunted east of 35 before and asked about the coyotes howls being a lot different than the ones in west tx. I am now almost positive what i heard was a wolf. They were not yipping at all.

thats a pretty darn big coyote... although that is a smaller wolf...

grew up in northern michigan. we had wolves, but you would seldom see them. depending on the species of wolf I could believe it. Why not? we got mt lions. Monkeys. bears. burrows. Why not a wolf that was at one time a native species?
??? MONKEYS??? really? i dont know what i would do if i was in a tree and saw a monkey walk by

Question, if wolves do exist in Texas is it legal to shoot them?

Back in 2011 with all the fires going on, about 40 wolves were let out of an encloser, monkeys too... lol,,, I don't think the wolves went back to the encloser, so theres no tellin what you might see in the woods... be careful.... My kind of hunting.... I have seen mountain lions in the past 2 years..... 3 times. couldn't get a kill shot....

Yes there are wolves in east texas. My dad has seen several over the years and I have seen one myself a couple years back. All in the neches riverbottom outside of Diboll.
