Whether we agree or disagree, what I like about this thread in general is that we can talk about stuff like this and treat one another with dignity. This is one of the things I truly appreciate about the good people of TBH.
Plus, I'll bet my leaf blower can out-blow your leaf blower!
i have a mowing business and have guys that work for me and I tell them to blow most of clippings back into the grass and then blow the rocks out of of the curb back into the street. there will always be a little grass that will get blown into the street but with out winds here in Corpus they are a mile down the road before we get into the truck.
I think a little clippings is fine but never alot of clippings.
A old timer i used to mow for used to tell me a clean curb is a happy curb. I thought it was amusing when he told me that.

Yes, grass and dirt build up, other trash and junk get hung up, plant matter grows compounding the issue...
I used to work for a lawn bussiness in college, and trust me, there is nothing lazy about that job. They are basically trying to mow as many yards as they can in a day to turn a little profit, i am sure with gas prices these days they are stretched to the limit for time, the more lawns you mow, the more profit you make. I am sure they would rather stick around and bag some clippings rather than load up and head to antoher lawn. Just the loading and offloading the equipment at 15-20 different houses is more than most people will do in a day. The only thing lazy in that equation is the homeowner who pays these guys to mow his lawn.
I like mowing my St. Augustine grass. I also have a bag on the mower and hardly ever have over 2 trash bags full of clippings. Never blow any of it in the street either. I'll make a final pass on the sidewalks and have been known to make a run by the curb to get leaves/clippings off the street.
And if I have to pay someone to mow my yard just to have time for my family I'll also be giving up my lease as it takes more time than mowing...
Now excuse me while I trim my hedges...
I've been a commercial lawnboy since 1993, and have blown a lot of grass in the street at times. It really depends on the customer and the amount of grass you are blowing. We carry a couple of scoops on the trailer and will clean up the clippings if there is a measurable amount. I don't like to leave a mound of grass in the street, but a thin line is nice as it shows the homeowner that you've been there and their yard looks good. In certain areas of this town, too, the customers don't want to blow anything in the street and we clean everything up. I don't mind cleaning up as long as they are willing to pay for it.
I own a landscape co and i usually blow the clippings into a pile in an area where it is easiest to pickup, sometimes its the street, sometimes its against the garage door or it may be on the patio if its in the backyard.
But I never leave the clippings to blow away. We always pick them up and toss them into our trash trailer to be disposed of at the local landfill.
If the people have a pool we even clean up the clippings that blow into the pool and when everything is finished we blow the dust off the cars sitting in the driveway or on the street that may have gotten covered in dust from our blowing.
Anybody that thinks landscape workers are lazy can come out with my crew anytime they want to and see what it takes to do this job all day every day.
Well this should help I work for a city and take care of driange issues everytime it rains because of leaves grass clippings and other debris that homeowners blow over the curb so yeah it sucks and does clog storm drains. Next I own a landscape bussiness also and my guys and myself included blow what evers in the curb before we mow into the yard then when were finshed blow whats in the curb again into the yard bag and pickup leaves ..etc because THAT"S WHAT YOUR SUPPOSED TO DO>>>simple
