They're not dead. They just aren't stupid hot like all the players have become accustomed to. My son is still leaving the yard with his new Omaha BBCOR, just not as often. A home run used to be something special that only certain types of players could achieve. The game, Softball and Baseball, needs to get back to that.

One of my friends got paid to play for a long time and there were definately some benefits, ie. paid for hunting trips and fishing trips to really cool places. I went to Indiana and bowhunted with several of those guys and they were not doing bad off. Not to mention NIB Hoyt bows every year.

Mark Schobel? I used to play with him and Don Stavinaho back in the day. Those guys hit a ton. Center field in the vet stadium in Weimar was nothing for Schobel.
