most likely they all had brow tines. I would have culled him too!

We have two ranches that are managed extensively. This is definitely a cull buck. At 2.5 that deer should have brow tines. You do not want that deer breeding next year. That deer is basically a 4 point pushing a 5th point. Even if he grew brow tines next year he would have to grow a few more points and gain considerable tine length, width, and mass to have any promise. Good job.

I say shoot a buck like that, but it depends on circumstances of the ranch you are on. I think it is no big loss with him gone, especially if you have better 2.5 year old deer. They begin breeding young and if you think a 2.5 year old can't get in their and steal a doe, you are kidding yourself.
