Read the following if you have time! My take is no brow tines = dirt nap! Seems odds are if they don't have em when young, they will never have them. Why waste nutrition on an inferior deer. Kerr WMA does some great research!http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild...s_a_predictor/

Just took this one Sunday night. It NEEDED to go. Same buck as yours...3 1/2 yrs old, 5 pt w/no brow tines. Don't need his genes spread around anymore.

Have you seen him in years prior? If so, what was he like in his younger days?

Nope, not taking any chances or Hoping that he might get better. Too many trashy deer on our place and too many does. We just don't take enough deer off of our place to have any kind of management program as it's small acreage, low fence, no supplemental feeding or protien and basically I am the only one that hunts it; so I don't want these type of bucks out there anymore.

I also took an old 5 point this year with no brows. Been after him 3 years now, didn't have them then and still didn't this year. My fear is that he was very dominant and I will see thus trait for several more years.

For 4 years we have tried to shoot every buck 2.5 and older with no brows, and we are still getting them. Both my sons have taken nice bucks, a real nice 7, and a nine missing brows, and last year we had a six that was pushing p&y. The point is, once this problem gets started, brows are whats out of the norm, and this sucks for a brow tine fan.. Oh and yes this year we took a nine and a six with no brows. Dont let him breed for another year... IMO!
You are more than likely still getting no brow tines bucks due to the does. The does will carry as much sometimes more of the genetics than the bucks. So if you had no brow tine bucks and they bread, then the doe fawns had that genetic and started to pass it along as well. Start taking out mature does every year along with the no brow tine bucks and you will slowly begin to weed out that genetic trait.

Too young, I would wait and see, never before 4.5 for me.
