    Problem solved.
Buy quality rings and bases and generally don’t need to lap.

Sometimes it even happens to quality rings, I have a set of Talley Steel rings (verticle) that let my scope slip on my 300 even torqued to 20 in/lbs as recommended. First and only time it’s ever happened.

its a 300, make sure everything is right and super-duty on a heavy recoiling rifle.

the .22, no idea ... there is NO recoil!

I wouldn’t consider Talley to be quality either. There are a lot of Talley fanboys, but I’ve seen too many reports of them breaking and not being concentric to one another.

I’ve ran them on many guns without issue. The fixed permanent rings are much better than the ultralights IMO and that’s the ones that slipped. The problem for this is it’s a Sako with optilock and only way I can run 1913 rings is if I buy a $170 Contessa rail that fits that action.

Got a NF rail and Seekins rings coming. I really liked the looks of American Rifle Company M-10 rings. $50 more than the Seekins though.

                Thanks for the tutorial

ARC rings are VERY nice rings, but Seekins are still excellent and will work great for ya.

I use ARC and Alaska Arms on my newer rifles, but Seekins will do just fine. Never even heard of the originals you used.
