                      I would opine that this gentleman nailed it right here. I've had several Marlins with optics, the favorite had a Burris 1-5x. Any lightweight, low-power variable (1-4, 1-5, 1-6x) IMHO is the perfect hunting optic for the 200 yard or so capability of the cartridge. A Weaver 1-3x is another capable, lightweight choice.

                          I have a 1.5-4x leupold freedom that I had on an ar. I also have some low Talley mounts for a marlin 336 if interested.

                                Well, had a nice feller offer me a Low Powered scope, I accepted, just waiting for it to show up. I will post some pics when I get it on.
