If I could pick up a Dan Wesson for a grand, that what I would do. My other picks would be Kimber, Sig, Remington, and Springfield. My 500 dollar Kimber that I paid 1k bucks for has ran flawless so I have no regrets.

I own a Ruger SR1911 and it is the favorite of my gun collection. I use that as my daily conceal carry. I use a IWB holster from Alien Gear and it is perfect.

I've got Colt and Kimber. Kimber out shoots the Colt every time and can be bought for under $1,000 with night sights and checkered front strap.

I've got an older (~ circa 2005) Kimber Custom II. We get along well after close to 10,000 rounds - even on bad days I can get good groups with her. Probably wouldn't buy a newer Kimber and never could get a comfortable grip on a Colt.

To each their own - find one you can that fits you.

their are a lot of choices nowadays kimber would be my last choice currently,, springfield, ruger, Remington, rock island, and especially sig are putting out some good ones,,,, I doubt you can find a sig in that price range though
