Out of the ones you listed, I'd go with the Sig. I prefer striker fired guns but The Sig would be the better choice compared to the others.

Ruger Centerfire pistols leave a lot to be desired. they should stick to .22s and wheelguns. Or finally figure out how to make a centerfire pistol that doesn't suck.

The XD has it's issues too. The grip safety is a huge deal breaker for me. There's no reason for it at all. There's also reliability issues with both the XD and Ruger when put to good use. I'm not able to trust either.

Another option your range would be the M&P9c or FS.

I'd strongly recommend looking into a used Glock or M&P. They will serve you better in the long run.

Not to bash bigtex's dislike for the ruger but i have 4 of them and never had a problem with them.

Glock is my choice for a ccw. If it is in a holster what is wrong with the "traditional" safety not being there? My problem with the XD and 1911 (even though I own both) is that if say you were injured and could barely hold on to the gun to return fire. With a grip safety, no firing. That could get you in trouble. Just my .02$

I'm a fan of the Glock 17 and its smaller counterparts as well. Shoot what you can and form your own opinion though for sure. I hear great things about the M&P lines by Smith and Wesson as well but have never shot them

A lot of people rave about the m&p but I've had way to many ejection failures and feed failures out of mine to rely on it for anything. I shoot and cc a subcompact xd haven't had any trouble out of it yet and hope I don't. If I was shooting right handed I would own glocks. Every pistol has had its share of problems. Whatever you end up with break it in and shoot something like idpa where you will run the gun fairly hard. Any problems should show up pretty quickly.

Ruger SR9 is a great choice, ive had mine since 08 and it has yet to let me down, its been my CC for 7 years. Its slim, holds alot of firepower and ruger has excellent customer service.

Glocks are gun for gun the most accurate semi auto pistols I've owned. They shoot groups about 1/2 the size of most other brands I've owned. All the glocks I've shot are accurate to handgun hunt with shooting apple sized groups @40 yds is no problem. Their dependability is unequaled by any of them, bury a hammer gun in the mud and see what happens.....I guess you can tell I'm definitely a glock guy! Lol

I've had my XD subcompact 40 for a few years now, sent over 3500-4000 rounds down the tube, never a malfunction. I carry it every day. Love the pistol, and I trust it will go bang every time. That being said, I'll be getting a glock 23 gen 4 here soon. Not cause I don't like the XD, I just want a g23.

Just an update. I bought this Sig P320 compact in 9mm this morning. Thanks for all the input.

I own 1 & 3 and have shot #2 many times. I love my XD. Which has no thumb safety on it but does have 3 other safeties including the grip safety.

Glock, or do what I did and try all the rest because I didn't like glock. And end up selling and trading until you find the one you like, and end up with a glock. Wish I would have just got the glock to start with.
