I shot a 725 sporting in competition last year.Great handling gun the chokes drove me nuts because I had to use a wrench for them and I changed a lot. I figured out that the Muller chokes not only patterened great in mine they also were very easy to screw in an out due to the fact that they were ceramic.

Anybody use a 30-32" barrel in the dove field? I've talked to several folks and they all do and wouldn't go back to shorter barrels.. Was just curious if any TBHers did.?

I had the White Lightning and shot it pretty well. (I'm no pro shotgunner mind you.)

              but...

I recently bought a Beretta 1301C and using the shims that came with it I got it to fit me correctly and from my experience I will never own a shotgun that can't be adjusted ever again. I think I could shoot this thing blind folded.

                .

My son shoots the feild with 30in barrels and loves it. We havnt hunted with it yet but dont think would be an issue. His 725 with 30in barrels isnt any longer than my beretta 391 with 28in. May not matter for you but the LOP is longer on the sporting model. I had a 525 sporting and it was too long for me.
I really like the feel of the 725 i just dont shoot OU worth a flip.

I have this exact gun. I am no expert on shotguns but for whatever reason I shoot this very well. And as pretty as it is I look cool too.

I shoot an XS Skeet citori in 12 gauge with 30" barrels. I have taken it to
The dove field on several occasions. I really like the 30" barrels on the skeet/clays line, and in the hunting field. I doubt I would buy shorter. Love my Brownings.

I don't show that they make the 725 field in 30" barrels.. You sure about that?

Jason, go with the sporting model. You won't regret it. And I wouldn't even consider anything under 30".

I disagree. I can't imagine using anything longer than 28" for dove hunting, and prefer a 26". You need to be agile and quick.

I went down the same road a while back and went with the 725 Sporting. I really liked the fit and finish better on the 725 much better than the lightning. It just felt like a better gun in my opinion. The field was a nice gun, but I felt for a little more the upgrades to the sporting were better for me. I really like the palm swell on the stock and the 30" barrels, as well as the sporting having 5 extended chokes.

That's what I thought too, then I got a 30" O/U. Now take into account with an O/U the shorter receivers makes a big
Difference. Full length of the gun is more like a 28" semi auto. My 30" Browning is plenty fast to swing and agile. While plenty fast it is also smoother to swing than a shorter barreled gun.

I will touch on something you said too. I thought a palm swell was overrated. Now that I have it, I don't think I will buy another gun without it. A feature I really love. I would say my biggest must haves now are the palm swell, and double beads.
