    Another scope recommendation

Guys I'm having a hunting rifle built on a model 7 action with a 22 inch tube and BC medalist stock. It will be chambered in 260 remington and will be my main texas hunting rifle.

My next purchase will be a scope. I want a scope that will be adequate for hunting, but something that if I want to stretch its legs at the range will do. I've used Leupold vari x II, Burris Fullfield II and an old Simmons Aetec scope. I want something that is middle of the road as far as price goes, and something not too heavy and bulky.

I want this to be a decent scope for this gun. Let's see y'all's recommendations. Thanks

What do you mean middle of the road? 600-800?

That's about what I had in mind.

Gotcha. I'm in the same boat and having a very hard time deciding. I was looking real hard at the vortex viper HS LR 4-16x50 but have some doubts on if that line is worth the price. Hopefully someone here can point us in the right direction

I would think a VX-2 4-12x40 would be a good choice. It's a little more magnification then a 3-9 and still is slimline and only weights 11oz (13oz if you get it with the adj objective).

Some good close out deals on Zeiss at Red Hawk Rifles.

I looked at some zeiss, vortex, Leupold, and Nikon. Just so many models to choose from, and it's been a while since I bought a scope.

If I were you, I would take a long, hard look at the Leopould VX2 series.

Camera land has the zeiss conquest with target turrets for $599 shipped I believe.

I'd also agree with Blake and look hard at a leupold vx3 4.5-14x50. I'd take it one step further and have some m1 turrets installed on it for when you want to stretch it out.

                      Buy used and save money.

Yes buying used is what I will likely do. If I can find a good deal I'll snag it up.

Hard to beat that deal on the zeiss

If you can find a Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 that's what I would (and did) go with. They can be had for under $1k new or around $800 used.

There was one in the classifieds here a while back. Not sure if it sold.
