Supersonic to about 2k yards, very flat shooting, supposedly relatively low recoil. I want one, but I'm hearing barrel life of about 1000 rounds or less. By the time you get good with it and learn the dope, it'll be time to replace the barrel. I guess the learning curve might be faster on the second barrel.

That could be true but I'm not sure the Ultra Long range shooter is the target market for this rifle.

Too me, it's the guy that want's to shoot out to 5 or 600 yards with minimum dope. If you're not using target knobs you'll be able to sight in about 2-3 high at 100 and only be a few inches low out to 415 yards. Not a lot to figure out there.

Additionally, I think barrel burn out is overrated....the average hunter/paper puncher shoots a few rounds then lets it cool and cleans as often as required. The competition shooter may shoot several strings of 10 very quickly and not clean all day. That's where the damage is done, in those long fast stings which heat soak even the heaviest of barrels....JMHO.

Having said that, I'm a huge 6.5 guy but if hunting at VERY long range I'd pick a 168 grain 7 mag or 180-200 grain fast 30, again JMO...

Nice marketing, they claim flat to 400 but it is a higher trajectory, they are playing with the numbers. The ballistic charts when you look at them really are not what you would expect. Still an impressive round, that leaves the question of the ammo availability.

Compare the velocity/trajectory/energy to other calibers in a ballistic chart.

I see in their comparisons they used 30-06 and .270 instead of the good old 7 mag which pushes 140 grains to about 3200fps. It would be interesting to see the trajectory comparison between the two zeroed at 350.

A 7 mag as comparison? No....

                    Try comparing it to a 6XC or a 6.5-284 or better yet a 6.5-280....

IMO it is a hunting rifle only that wouldnt be a very good competition rig due to the barrel life. The way they market it was brilliant. But if you pay attention and do some comparing its really not that special.

Cool idea, but then again so was a lazeronni and those arent seen very often LOL

Texas Custom Rifles is building me one right now.

                      Spiral Fluted Hart barrel
                      Stiller Tac action
                      McMillan Stock
                      Jewell Trigger

Will be putting a AAC 338 Ti can on it.

Pretty excited to say the least. Have the bullets, and the 2 powders and chrono ready. Just need dies, brass, and a gun!

I'm excited to hear the actual numbers from hand loaders on this round.

Is there anything "real world" out there yet or just the published factory data?

it doesn't seem a whole lot different to me than a .264 win mag
