If I could only own one rifle I would use it to shoot myself so I wouldn't have to live in a world where I could only own one rile.

            Mosin Nagant

I would use my 91/30 Mosin Nagant. It's cheap and the ammo is the only ammo that seems somewhat affordable to me. By today's standards that is.

Im thinking AR15 as well. Ammo readily available, high cap magazines for self defense, accurate, and reliable. Plus more than capable of taking any animal for food (head shots on larger game). Slap a 2-10x nightforce on it with a red dot at 45 angle and some BUIS, maybe a small light.

3006 pretty much a do it all caliber for North America . Ammo is easy to find. 150 gr to 220 gr. I grew up with a 243 and a 30 30. They are more than adequate for anything here. I am a lefty so when I could afford a rifle of my own I chose a do it all round. I am confident that if I go on an elk hunt or black bear that I can make a clean kill.

Out of the ones I own, this rifle is it (mine is currently scopeless since I just sold the leupold that was on it, but looking for glass about like what you have for it).

Man that would suck to lug around daily when better options are out there. If I could have 1 rifle I think I'd go with a 22cal/20 gauge OU combo. I could do everything with it.

Wby .257 Mag with 110gr accubonds and a Nikon Buckmaster 4x14x40 BDC

Because it is fast, flat, hits em like the Hammer of God, and can kill anything in North America.

It is a hard decision to have to choose just one. I made my choice from a hunting standpoint

from a survival stand point, I have to go with an old Ithaca that my gramps gave me years ago...... that would be my go to.
it is an O/U .22mag on top and a 20gauge on bottom

I have a Cooper Mod 52 in .280, with proper bullets it's good for all but dangerous game.

                            Good answer.

I think I would avoid rimfire for reloading purposes though.

I would probably go with something like a 22 hornet as it can kill small game and still leave meat to eat and also kill larger things such as pigs and deer. could also be a man killer. Can reload it and get about 500 rnds out of a lb of powder.

Something like a contender with multiple barrels would be good. A combo gun with 22 hornet over 12 gauge would be cool.

Put a moderate powered scope on it as long range shots wont be the norm. Maybe get night vision too
Put a sling on it and have an ammo bag

I would buy a Remington 700 BDL in 30-06 and put a Lueppy 2x7 on it. Only thing in the world you can't hunt with it is African dangerous game, and that's just because they wont let you. Proper placed shot from a 30-06 will kill anything under the sun
