    Ar 15 issue

Took my ar to the range first time today..put first mag in pmag... Was loaded with Tula ammo shot first round the casing did not come out.. I racked it shot again and thing... I lubed it up someone shot 15 more rounds with something happening... That point I switched mags and to brass ammo... Shot 5 rounds it FTf one time and then did not lock bolt back on last round... I ended up shooting 100 rounds down it and thur half way thur the mags it would not pick up a round but the bolt started to stay open when mag was empty... So the issue I left with is that sometimes it doesn't pick up a round any ideas??? I used new pmag and steel mags...

What brand is the upper, and what buffer do you have? Is this a home build or store bought? where did you oil at?

tula ammo, while dirty, is generally loaded pretty hot from the factory, which points to other issues since it happened with steel and brass ammo.

One thing I did notice is the when the casings came out they where covered in burnt powder.. I have not had that issues before shooting tula ammo or brass

Steel casing will jam with a heavier buffer and spring. Steel doesn't seem to be as powerful as brass.

Gas block could be a little off center and making it short cycle...

Not completely true. I ran 200 rounds of steel case Tula through my AR on day 1 and had zero issues. I have an RGUNS upper and a new frontier poly lower. I would lean more to the BCG or ramp being the issue.

my guess is that the FSB is off center/not installed correctly.

This upper is a 20inch heavy Bull barrel

the front sight block is where the gas gets routed back to the bolt via Direct Impingement tube that forces the bolt to cycle.

You say you have a 20" upper? what buffer do you have installed in it?
