Federal Fusions in 95gr (I think that's the weight we use, can't remember, it's close to 100gr though.) Anyway, the Fusions group VERY well out of Kaitlin's rifle, and do well on game. Good penetration, good exit wound etc. She shot a large, wooly ram at Thompson Temple last year, quartered away at about 125 yards. She put it right behind the shoulder and it came out the opposite shoulder after crushing the leg and shoulder bones. Blood trail was amazing, looked like a murder scene. Exit wound was about the size of a tennis ball.
I can count on both hands and run out of fingers of all the 100gr corelokts that failed on deer with shots into the shoulder Jeff...I am a fan of the fusion & consider it the best factory bullet (in general) for deer rounds, but it needs to leave the muzzle at 3000fps or less to consistantly stay together. They are pretty tough for such a reasonable priced off the shelf bullet, but the 243 is a sissy when trying to punch through shoulder bones and vitals.
Personally, I would try the fusion only if you cannot find or reload a premium round using the solid copper Barnes x line of bullets as mentioned.
