Shepherd. They're scopes are caliber specific and have some really neat features that no one else offers. It's what I have on my 7-08
Shepherd Scopes designs and manufactures rangefinding rifles scopes, laser designators, ballistic specific reticles, fire control systems, and binoculars.

Haven't looked through any of the high end scopes. What is the difference between the glass of the zeiss conquest and nightforce and schmit & bender? Also the leupold mark 4 scopes. What makes the last three better than the zeiss?

Nightforce 3.5-15x50 NXS with NP-R1 reticle. Would have several of these bad boys but I sadly don't have a budget that allows me too at the moment, shows to be right at 1600 bucks on opticsplanet so you would have to splurge just a bit for the shipping but not to bad.

Oh and this is why the nightforce is way up high on my list.

Explore precision optics trusted by the world's best hunters and tactical shooters. Nightforce riflescopes offer unmatched clarity, durability, and accuracy.

The scopes you listed other than the zeiss are mostly tactical long range scopes. They have a lot of built in options like zero stops, first focal plane, and lots and lots of elevation and windage adjustments.

I personally don't think Nightforce has great glass but they have every long range function you need and their clicks and zero are exact and repeatable.

Zeiss has some of the best glass and glass coatings on the market, even in their lower lines like the Conquest.

Go with a 50mm objective, for sure.

If your going to be hunting and shooting Steele, I would go with a tactical scope. A Zeiss will not compete with a Nightforce. The glass is better on the Nightforce. You can also just save up more and get a S&B. For a hunting scope a Swarovski would be since choice.

You have got to be pulling my leg. I realize you said "you personally don't think" "Which means you are entitled to your own opinion as I am entitled to mine" but have you ever hunted with one?

I know numerous competition shooters who dont like the optics. I like them, But think there is better options for the retail price of an NXS. A lot of guys like them for the name and turrets.

Yelp, and z6's, and victory. Not even close optically to upper end Swaro and Zeis optically, Functionality if you are a mil shooter long range guy, ya NF wins but optically no way.

You honestly think japan glass is better then Schott?

I have actually and have one mounted on an M24. I would not choose a NF as a hunting scope at all. However, it would be my first choice in a combat zone or on a long range precision rifle.

Shooting 600 yards is a good poke but by no means a long ways. You can accurately shoot 5-600 yards with a $450 scope, beyond that you will run out of elevation and thus the need for 30mm tubes, M1 style turrets, zero stops, FFP, levels, match grade ammo ect ect ect.....
