    When do you clean?

Ok with all the shotgun problem threads started recently, how often do you guys strip down your action to little pieces and clean them? Not just pop the barrel off run a brush and then put it up.

I clean mine at the end of every season thoroughly. If I have drug it to hell and back one day then it will get cleaned a few times during the season.

Partial breakdown after every hunt, and complete breakdown after season

After every hunt ends, whether its a day hunt or after a weekend hunt. Before it goes back in the safe, its stripped, cleaned, reassembled and function checked.

It depends on what I'm doing / have done.

I'm originally from LA. If I had just come back from hunting ducks in the marsh, it would get completely ripped apart, cleaned and oiled.

Now that I'm in TX, and I've only taken my shotguns to the range for clay shooting, I just run a Boresnake through the barrel when I get home, wipe it down with CLP and stick it back into the safe. Occasionally, I rip them down further for a complete cleaning.

          All the best,
          Glenn

I wioe mu shotgun downs and run a snake through it after a hunt...I break it down when I'm not gonna be hunting for another week or so (towards end of season) I've hunted about 12 hunts since ooener of dove season and will again tom afternoon...I don't have the time to break down every day. If I was duck hunting in water I would do it more often though

growing up duck hunting on the coast I was always taught after every hunt to break everything down and clean, clean, clean. Even then your still gonna find an occasional rust spot. If im hunting freshwater I probably wont be as concerned unless I was sitting in the rain or something. Other than that my shotguns are disassembled, cleaned and oiled twice a year. Once after season and once at the end of the summer.

I break mine down and clean it good once a year, at the end of the season. I'll use a Rem Wipe or something similar to wipe it down and I'll run a bore snake through it after every hunt, but no need to break it all the way down. I just try too remove any water that may have contacted the gun. I've found that breaking it down after every hunt and deep cleaning only makes the dirt and grime stick to the action works.

Break it all the way down at the end of everyday, rip the trigger, bolt assembly out of everything and reapply a light coat of CLP.

Only once after conservation order. The rest of the time I wash it off with a water hose, let it dry in the sun, and spray it real good with Rem-Oil.
