Because natural disasters happen. Because in that scenario or an economic collapse or extended power outage, I want to be able to protect and provide for my family.

And because I don't want to get bit by zombies. Lol

The term "doomsday" is not the same thing as the "rapture." People "prep" for catastrophic events of THIS, not the "end times."

I guess living in the country all my life is why I have a different view on this. I have everything I need to make it right out my back door. If I lived in a big city I would be prepping to. There are some very intresting comments in this thread.

Prepping your Soul is one thing, but prepping your body to remain able to protect the soul is quite another. Just because an economy collapses, or a dictator takes over, doesnt necessarily signal the next coming of Christ.

your prepping would require you to be able to defend that little slice of heaven from people who would think they needed it more than you. without your fortification, itll be easy to overcome your defenses, and make you a slave or kill you.

Yep. I have to chuckle at some people that think they are "prepared" because they live in the country. Most arent.

                    Two points......

Your original post said that if you were right with God, "you shouldn't be prepping for doomsday". Now you say that if you lived in a city, you would be prepping too. Does that mean that you are not right with God but fortunately live in the country?

Living in the country is great but what happens when the mob shows up at your door when the food in the city runs out? I am not a prepper but if you look at the likelihood of catastrophe, is living in the country a buffer from something bad happening because they won't find you?

                    Carry on.

When I was referring to doomsday I was referring to the end times, not natural disasters. You cant live off the land in the city. I would definatly have some extra beans and bullets if I was surrounded by concrete. I was referring to the folks who are stock piling assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammo for a war. If it comes down to world war I would rather be with God. Hopefully me and my family would be called home before this, if not I will die by the sword...... And yes I'm a Christian.....

Preppers say hope in one hand and **** in the other. see which fills fastest.

the whole point is to try to prepare for a worst case scenrio like a huricane or civil unrest. nothing will help when Jesus comes back to earth if youre not saved.

I don't think most people associate being prepared for biblical doomsday with being prepared for civil unrest caused by natural, political or social disaster.

You can be 100% right with God and still have to fend off looters or thugs if the stuff hits the fan.

History is full of valid reasons to prep, irrespective of your belief in Christ. You can even look in the Bible, Egypt comes immediately to mind. You don't even have to look into history, just look around the world right now, today, and you can find plenty of examples for reasons to prep.

I heard at lunch today, that when (maybe) the banks in Cypress re-open they are only going to let folks pull the equivalent of $330 out of their account. And that is after not having had access to it for a week. Think about that for awhile.

I have faith in God. Not so much in my fellow man. Some, yes. Others, definitely not.

Dooms Day may not coincide with the Rapture. A nuke strike from North Korea, a massive, earthquake, our government getting really stupid.....

If you want to be the guy that gets gunned down for stealing food or is starving to death because of lack of preparedness....ok.
