    Booked for Bar E april,29-may 3,2007

hello, i am new to the forum. my best friend and a few friends of mine from the old bushnell outdoors forum are meeting up down at the bar e, a few of our other friends went last year and had a good time. i am hoping we do the same. we are avid hog hunters up in the tennessee hills but this is our first texas trip. i hope the good lord allows me a shot at an axis buck as well. i will probably shoot a corsican for my sheep and course hopefully arrow some swine. my best friend and i are both Police officers ,he in tennessee and myself in north carolina and we love these trips for our stress relief. i am looking forward to it and i am looking forward to hearing the reports from you guys that are going down there soon. this is a cool forum and has some great topics as far as i can see!

    God bless,
    Bill

There might be a few hard horned axis, but "most" of them will have hard horns July through October .... there's no set time, that's just what I've noticed in my adventures.

This past November was the first year we tried pop ups out at the Bar E. We in the past (3 trips) have always taken our own tripods, but this year decided to bring a pop up as well. We did not set up until the day before our last hunt and I decided on last morning hunt to use it. It had been brushed in for less than 24 hours and I saw three shooter whitetails and one axis buck. There were some axis and whitetail does as well, none of which seemed to notice the blind. I shot this 10pt out of my pop up.

I will admit I was skeptical about hunting it especially on my last attempt to shoot something. But it definitely paid off for me.

People should remember that at day lease operations herds are changing on a weekly basis depending on what animals there trapper is getting them. One trip may see more exotics and your next trip more sheep. Just the nature of the game.

They make money by you going home empty handed. Don't really try to help you be successful. Be careful of stands as they are not secure and fall easily.

You must not of hunted there with Larry and Tina. They do everything they can to get you on some animals. When they ran Nolton Creek I was out there and they helped a guy get his ram he was after. The guy had no opertunities in the stand so they drove him around and let him stalk a ram, he got the one he was after. I will continue to hunt with Lary and Tina and will continue to tell people about them.

My own personal experience with Larry a week ago was a positive one. He was personable and moved us to different stands when we asked him. I didn't meet Tina so I can't comment about her. See my hunt report entitled "Nolton Creek/BAR E Hunt Report" in the Hunting Reports forum.
