Getting ready to try either Granger or sommerville around mid may... spent all summer Behind the dam in Granger last year saw lots of deer, one really nice Buck, and caught about 15 pigs on my game cam at one time... but never got a shot on one... maybe I should try a new area out there... they sure like coming in at night or during rain and vacuuming up all the corn my feeder was throwing...

Saw one today at a mostly dry tank by the pool. Spent all day out there today. Lots of action out there

The tickets are $20.00 and we only sell 600. We have 12 prizes, 6 are guns and the others include a Yeti Cooler, large propane griddle, fishing combo, Leupold Binos, and gift cards to Academy. I have pics of all the prizes and can post them if wanted (didn't want to flood this thread with all the pics without asking). Our department is tasked with fire control as well as medical and rescue for the majority of the Granger WMA. If anyone is interested in a ticket, I will try very hard to get one in your hand regardless of the location. The raffle drawing will be at our Fire Social on October 5th (you do not need to be present to win) and tickets are on sell now. Thank you for your support.
Correction: We are tasked with medical and rescue for the WMA, all of the parks, and the entire lake.

              And the river

This rain and cool should bode well for the Meat and Potatoes hunt. Have commitments Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, so it does not look good for me.

So I hunted behind the dam last year and my buddy tells me there's a road to the east of the dam rd off of 1331 that will get you in on the south side of the spillway and pecan grove with a lot less of a hike. Anybody able to confirm that? He said you park right off of 1331 and walk a dirt road that borders the public hunting land and private land. Found it on the map just want to make sure its a legite place to park and hike in. Also is the grass still 4 feet tall out there?

Is the spillway a good place to bowfish?

We spent a couple nights down at the spillway getting crawfish but saw more people tearing up the gar down at the dam last year there was a pile of probably 25 up by the fishing platform by the dam one time when we went out there some were monsters too
