Alright well before I tell this story, don't judge me too hard. There will be pics... But not what I'd prefer them to be exactly...

So after hiking what felt like all over God's creation out there, and thinking I would float away in the frog strangler that I got caught in, I decided to call it a day.

Well on my way back, I notice the far bank of the creek has been annihilated like it'd been shelled by several mortar rounds. So I decided to investigate. Sure enough! Pigs!

So I picked out a decent boar in the group and decided to start my stalk by circling downwind. Things went downhill from there... Ten yards into the stalk, I notice movement right smack dab in front of me. "Aww crap" about summed up my thoughts. Up from the other side of the log pops about a 100lb sow. And she is not happy to see me. She started toward me then turned broadside, so I took the shot. I saw where the arrow hit, seemed a little high and for some reason, no pass through. Not good. So she breaks off the arrow and takes off. So I backed out and gave it about 30 mins figuring I'd go in and find her piled up.

So I begin blood trailing... Not good. No blood. So I decided this would be a good time to try out my dogs that I've been *attempting* to train at blood trailing. I bring the dogs back, and I find a small speck of blood and away we go. At this point I did something stupid. I let my dogs get outta sight. So I tracked where they went til they crossed the creek. Called and called, couldn't get the dogs back. Tried not to panic, prayed about it, and about an hour passed by. Finally my red dog shows, but nothing from my blue dog Bronx. So I go back to where I shot the hog, and I find out why that sow was so ****** off.

There a few yards from where I shot her were a whole gaggle of baby piglets. Yeah, yeah I know, so what? Well I didn't have the heart to leave them there... So I gathered them up. Unfortunately they freaked out, and scattered to the four winds. I looked til it got dark but I could only find 3 out of the 7. I feel terrible about it. Anyhow... I'll post pics of the little guys but they won't be LDP's... Lol.

Also, God answers prayers because my blue dog was back a my jeep when I got there!

On the way down to my dad's now since he has all the equipment to bottlefeed them.

I bet my KAP man card gets revoked over this, but I'm just a big softie I guess

Leave your card in your wallet. It's not revoked. Suckkling pigs are the best eating out there. You don't even have to slow cook them. Gut them and roast those babys whole. Plus, you just took out 3 future hogs with one arrow. Shoot mama, then just scoop up the babies.
I'm glad Bronx showed back up to the jeep. Lost dogs are worse than anything.

LOL...I wouldnt bat an eye either way man. I bet the yotes will thank ya for the ones ya left and those others will bottle feed into some fine eating. If mama bucked that arrow, she may have the others rounded back up and they are right back to their normal routine. I have whacked a mama with shoates on more than one hunt and I try and whack as many of the shoats as I can if they dont run. They eat good...LOL

As far as the dogs, I run mine on a 30 foot lead. It is long enough to drop it and walk around brush and grab it again. It is thick out there and easy to let a dog get too far out of sight. Just a thought. Let me know if ya need any blood or anything to help with the training.

Yeah... I've been out there 5+ times now and only one of them has gone without seeing pigs.

                              Nice!

I haven't seen a pig the last two times I've been out, but I've been more focused on birds lately.

They seem to be pretty heavily pressured...
