Old man I spoke with also said the GW that works this area isn't the friendliest. Make sure you're walking a straight line...license, permit, equipment, etc.

Walked thru part of 13 for about 2 hours tonight (7-9pm). No tracks or rooting. Saw plenty of bedding. Might try exploring this one again on Sunday or Monday.

How much is the lavon permit? Also, I have my hunting license but I don't have a hunter safety course paperwork, do I need that? Or is there an exception?

You have to have hunters Ed unless you did a deferral through TPWD

I'm sure they have some. Here's a list of two day courses.

And a list of home study field days

There's been a few threads on here that discuss both options. I'd choose the field day and home study, but that's me.

Justin, pretty sure I hunt that exact same area right over by Lowry Crossing!

Do y'all ever run into many snakes out there? I'm scared to death not having a pistol on my belt!

I have frankly seen fewer than I expected out there, but I wear snake boots all the same. There's lots of poison ivy and other stuff I'd rather not touch to walk through in the wooded areas so snake boots help protect me from that too.

Anybody been out to area 16 recently? I have scouted there a couple times and haven't seen much.
