I got drawn for archery deer / chap but not really a trophy hunter. I know I'm not gonna get one bigger than than my best I already have, so I'm hoping for a fun hunt that fills the cooler (doe/any legal buck). Got some good intel today from a TBH'er and would appreciate any other help. Thanks.

Go and have fun. I drew it about 4 or 5 years ago. Hunted the north half of Jay pasture. Had a couple of studs on camera. Had a legal 10 at 21 yards one evening but was going thru a card of one of the cameras and was looking at a massive 10 at a stand that I was planning to hunt the next morning so I passed, being he had short tines. So next morning, he didn’t show but had another shooter come through but just out of range. Never flung a arrow but had fun nonetheless.

My bad, the old photos were at the top of my feed for some reason.

Quick question about the public drawn hunts. When a hunt details page says "1-4 people per application" does that mean if I get selected for a hunt, I can bring someone else that has their own Public Hunting License with me to hunt? Or just another person on the hunt to film, call, whatever? Thanks for any inputs. Hoping I get a "congratulations" email this year!

That means you can add up to 4 people on the application or as little as just yourself, they typically have to be on that application to bring them.

I think when you add people with 0 points and you have say 9 they subtract points from the group
example I have 8 points and my buddy 2 our combined = 6

Can't have 0, when you apply you gain 1. But it should be averaged and rounded. So 8 and 2 should be 5 points. If you already had 8 and 2 when you started, then the app went in at 9 and 3, which would be the 6 points.

Thanks for clarifying that, I was a little disappointed hitching my wagon with a 1st time applicant and getting round down

Yeah kinda goes against the norm, but the good thing is they're only raffle tickets so it doesn't hurt you really like a Western style preference point system would, just get fewer tickets for the raffle.

It means you can put on up to 3 other people on your application. If you only put yourself and get drawn, you’re not going to be able to bring anyone else on that hunt.
I remember when my son won a youth hunt. I couldn’t even bring my wife so she could video it.

I hunted there years ago the roads where flooded where I was so an atv was a must and saw quite a few cottonmouth snakes if I ever hunt it again I think I would definitely pick a unit that has the pipeline running through it and close to the neighbors with feeders hunted in the south western half right under the pipeline saw some deer and lots of pigs it turned out some jack wagon from the unit next to me snuck into mine and hunted about 80 yards up one of me the whole time he was about 10 yards from the neighbors fence I found him there a second last day

2nd draw is done now for the 8/15 draw dates. I did not get lucky.
