No luck for me yet. Hopefully, I will have better luck on my rifle hunt drawings. From what I understand, if you are drawn for a rifle hunt, you can have the option of using a bow. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Yes you can...unless it specifies in the book for that particular hunt. Take your rifle too just in case. Sometimes easier to put backstraps in the freezer with a long gun.

I hunted as standby on a rifle hunt once and only took my bow. Could have tagged out but instead went home empty handed.

0-3 so far. Struck out swinging on archery deer, mulie and exotic. Holding out for gun deer and exotic only (scimitar horned oryx). As of about 5pm neither had been drawn yet.

I drew there too for the first hunt period....BUT I also drew the first hunt period at Black Gap for mulies, so I will be going to BG. I did hunt GE 2 years ago. Very nice place. I hunted the NW part of unit 15.

Well there will be at least one standby position

We might try to go standby, just depends on how many spots are available to gamble the drive

I went 0-3 so far too. I sent in two other categories with this application that its not listing. It says some have been received but not processed. They were gun deer either sex and gun mule deer. Dis anyone else do this and it doesnt list on the application yet?

Man oh man. If I lose my spot on Chap to a guy just looking for preference points, the system just ain't right! Don't take this the wrong way Shane, but I'm hoping you get the point and I get to hunt. Lol

I bet this happens a lot. TPWD really needs to add a preference point only option.

My group got drawn for the Dec. Chap hunt. Looking forward to getting back out there. If anyone has any compartment suggestions, I greatly appreciate the insight.

Missed our archery meat hunt again this year. Still have 2 to go for later this year.
