Holster Build Along

Ok guys I have been holding off long enough I am going to start a basic holster build along. Nothing to difficult and if you have any questions as I go feel free to ask. Now you will need some specialty toll that are basically for leather only I will tell you a few places you can buy them but for on stop shopping I would say go to a leather store and good quality tools. I will be showing 2 different styles of stitching, One will be a saddle stitch and the other will be a basic lace. I like saddle stitch myself (for the way it holds up) but lace does look a lot more traditional. That being said I post pics or both styles of stitching and give you a few days the. The first 2 will be lacing this looks appeals to many but is not that string and can break very easy.

Saddle stitching is my preferred method there are several colors and materials you can get the thread in. Every thing after the first 2 pics is saddle stitching.

Haha I am just going to try and get a list together of tools for both styles

Leather basics

Leather Basics
There is two basic typesof leather. The separation of leathers basically in how they are tanned or finished I will be dealing with veg-tan leather this leather is what you need for tooling wet forming and burnishing. The other leather is what is nicked name as chrome leather do to most of it will have a grayish color on the inside of it when you cut it but will go away in time. Chrome leather is more like what your leather seats are covered with it is a lot softer and “bendable” and is actually died when it is being finished or tanned and veg-tan is what saddles are made of it comes in a color close to that of human skin and is not died or treated and is very acceptable to stains . That being said the first pic is of veg-tan and the second is chrome.
The reason I am going over this is so hopefully you will be ready to buy leather for what you want when we get started.
