I generally use the zerts with synthetic high temp food grade grease. Never had a problem with any of it leaking out onto the food. I've had people in the past come to me with regular bullet hinges that were frozen up and I've replaced them with bullet hinges that had zerts. Thanks let me know if I can help you along the way with any questions you may have

Finished trimming out the other door this evening. Would have got more done but I got hung up thinking about how to lay out the spare tire, propane tank holder and propane burner. Maybe tomorrow I'll build the racks inside on their slides.

Worked on it a little last night. Scored on two new 6" metabo's this week on eBay. Pretty tickled about that. Plan on getting a bunch done tomorrow!

Got a little done today on the wood rack and recessed a propane tank holder in the front corner. Would have liked to got more done but had a friend stop by and spent a good while shooting the breeze. Will probably build the cooking racks inside tomorrow after church.

Built the spare tire holder on it and also put the shelf in front of the doors after church today. I still have to build the sliding racks inside, put the light brackets, paint it and wire the lights. Getting near being done!

Looking good. Why does the rear leaf spring have a spacer?

Is that a 150 gallon tank?

Nice job. I'm surprised your doors didn't bow out when you welded the flat strap all the way around like that.

Do you have any tips to keep them tight with the cooking chamber like yours are?

I'm getting ready to build my second smoker. What I'm going to try is make my down cuts on the doors then cut 2" on the top and bottom then weld my 1" flat to the door on the down cut weld it all the way down on both sides of the doors. I hope that it will keep the metal from springing out.
