    Smokehouse build!

I've been wanting to build a smokehouse for making jerky and sausage for a while now. Finally pulled the trigger! The frame is 2x2 kiln dried pine and the siding and roof are going to be built our of cedar fence pickets. It'll be sitting on a cinder block base and fired by a propane cooker. The smoke will be produced in a cast iron dutch oven with holes punched in the top. So far I've got the base, back, and front put together!

That looks good. Keep posting up pics. I have always wondered if you can use pine in a smokehouse. I reckon you can tell us how things work out.
I have been wanting to build one similar myself.

Don't see any reason you can't use pine. I know quite a few people have. I've even see OSB used. Plus I'm using a minimal amount. The siding is cedar.
Only thing I'd be leery of is treated lumber. Its usually wet and no telling what chemicals would leech out during smoking!!!

Got some more done this eve. I don't have but an hour or maybe a little more in the evenings and a 2.5 year old boy to chase so it'll be a slow build (wife is still at work)! Got the side walls framed and a few siding boards installed got some more cut out but ran out of daylight!

How are you going work on the side that is close to the fence.

Lol I wondered if anyone would notice that! I actually forgot about it till I tried to frame it! I'll either work it through the fence or if I can't do that, I'll get a buddy over once the rest is done and lift it off the blocks, finish it and put it back. I'd guess the wood box will weigh about 150-200 lbs once done so it shouldn't be too hard to do. I planned for it to be light enough to move if needed
