im guessing in the 40 to 43lb range. put a shelf on it and plan for a better string. trot line string at working so well. has alot of stretch to it but shriks back when unstrung.

killed a red wasp at 4 yards with it. not much but its a kill! i plan to punch a hole in a fish with it.

got home yesterday and grabbed the pvc bow. the house was around 78 degrees and i went outside which was in the high 90's. tried to string the bow and in collapsed! pcv gets brittle when its cold so i think the temps had something to do with it. may be wrong though.

not a problem, just gona build another.

78 degrees to 90+ degrees won't affect PVC. I've put in miles and miles of PVC installing sprinkler systems. If your PVC has been exposed to sunlight for a while it will get brittle.

It collapsed or it broke? I've shot this last one I made 100 shots a day for over 30 days. I've shot it indoors at 73deg and outside at over 100 deg on problems. Fishanhunt is right about the sunlight. The UV will make it brittle fast. If it collapsed that doesn't sound brittle.

I'd love to make one of these for bowfishing but how would you put on a reel or anything? I have no experience with long bows or recurves and would really like to get into bowfishing.

I'm going to buy the AMS bow fishing reel and just screw it to the side of the bow like you would a rest or sights to a riser. I've got one now that just has a coke bottle attached to the front of the bow that my string wraps around but it can get sloppy if the string comes off the bottle. I also put a shelf on the latest one I built made out of a piece of 1/2" pipe cut in half and shrink-wrapped(heat shrink tubing) to the bow just above the grip. I'll see if I have a pic of it. Hadn't had a chance to get the reel bought and attached but hopefully soon.

Heres the latest one I built. This is the one I want to put the AMS reel on for bowfishing out of my kayak.

Looks good homegrown. I though about screwing thru the pipe but My concern is making a weak spot right at the location of the highest stress. Maybe flatten a separate piece and attack it to the side with a paracord wrap or heat shrink. This would leave the core of the bow uncompromised.

Put a te in the middle, Then a threaded reduce and an epoxied nut to match the reel thread and voila!!! an ams will attach
