I refuse to wear one. I don’t let it stop me from going anywhere I choose/need to. When I walk in and they ask me if I “need a mask”, I simply say no thanks and keep moving. I’m somewhat of an intimidating looking guy (doesn’t make me an Internet ******), so I’ve never had anyone say anything to me no matter where I was.

Again, it’s very refreshing to see folks on here calling out BS and tyranny for what it really is. When I came here, to a TEXAS based hunting forum, I never expected to see so many chicken-littles that are afraid of anything/everything and will comply with any nonsensical law and rule put on the books. The number of men on here that will openly admit to avoiding conflict at any and ALL cost.....well I’ll just say it’s shocking.
Now, you Beta keyboard Karens bring on the “tough guy” and “internet ******” comments that seem to be becoming the norm around this camp.

I do not like the mask requirements, but stated my opinion earlier.

I respect your opinion and I won’t rag on anyone whatever they chose to do. My mother is 83, she has had a stroke and a valve replacement in her heart, I wear a mask for her when I am around her , she has never asked me to wear one. I just cannot put a blanket statement on not wearing a mask for all instances. Even if the mask does not work I will wear it in some cases, maybe it’s just out of respect . I don’t know.

Understand something, 99% of the people are wearing masks....and yet what is happening with the #'s of positive tests....the same or rising according to them which anyone with half a brain can tell you that masks, wait for it..............are ineffective except to make you look like an idiot and follow the protocol right into the train car where you will take a lovely ride to a new better place. Trust us, you will be fine. People are so quick to accept SOCIALISM and then come on here and talk about how tough and manly they are. They same people will have their families taken from them in the future and **** and moan about it on here but do nothing about it.
They can still deny entry even if medically exempt according to several ADA websites that I have read. The law says they must make reasonable accommodations which is the ADA websites say could be to wear a face shield which does not restrict your breathing or do the shopping for you and bring it out to the curb side.

Not really. As usual it it just the vocal minority. You see the viral videos of the few idiots on both sides but 99 % have common sense and some decency. At least that is my observation!

Just ate at Red Lobster in Rockwall yesterday.
They have signs up out the wazoo that says mask are required.
We walked straight in and were seated immediately, nobody said a word.
To Hell with all of them imo!!

Fortunately for me, few businesses in Abilene are playing along with the mask requirements. I've read all the research. The vast majority of actual research shows that N95 masks are the only ones that are effective at all against spreading virus. Cloth masks are useless at best, and some studies have shown they actually put the mask wearer at increased risk of being infected with pathogens. I don't wear one. I don't go in places that require them. I haven't been to Academy since they started requiring them. (One of the few places in Abilene actually requiring them.)

My gym has required them since Abbott's mandate, so I joined another gym that doesn't require them. My old gym still requires you to have one on when you walk in the door, but then they say you can pull it down to your chin or lay it on the ground while you're on a piece of equipment. Then pick it up and put it back on to walk to the next piece of equipment. Yeah. That's healthy. Constantly touching things all over the gym and then touching the diaper that's strapped to your face. I'll pass. I've continued to pay dues at the old gym, trying to help a local small business, even though I haven't been there since the mask requirement. But if they don't drop the mask crap by the end of the month, I'll go ahead and cancel and just stay at the new gym that I've been going to for the last several weeks.

There are lots of people in Abilene wearing masks everywhere. Mostly older people, but some younger folks too. People that choose to wear them. No problem. Good for them. Nobody is urging them to take their masks off. But there are just as many, if not more, people in Abilene not wearing masks everywhere (young to old). Our hospital has not been overwhelmed. The case and hospitalization numbers are tapering off. We've not had it as bad as the big cities where masks are a lot more popular and required. If cloth masks helped, we'd be getting hit a lot harder than the masked cities. But we're not.

I see no reason to wear one, so I will continue to pass. I will also continue to use the cleaner on everything I touch at the gym. I'll keep my hands clean. If I ever get sick, I'll stay home. I won't sneeze in somebody's face. I'll stay away from people who might be sick. All the stuff I have always done, even before COVID-19. And WHEN I get the virus - I say "when", because we'll all get it eventually. Name one person who has never had a cold or flu. You can't. And there's a flu vaccine every year. So when I get the rona, I'll take some HCQ or whatever else my doc gives me at the earliest sign of illness. In the mean time, I'm gonna actually live my life. I'm not about to hole up and just exist in fear of a dang virus with a 99.7% survival rate. And I'll continue to eat healthy stuff, exercise, and take good care of myself so that whatever illnesses come around, I'll be healthy enough to have an excellent chance of getting over it without issue. I'm responsible for my own health. I don't need to force you and everybody else to wear masks in hopes of keeping me safe. You take care of yourself. I'll take care of me. And then we won't have to fight and argue with each other about stupid crap like masks. If you need to wear one, knock yourself out. I certainly hope that, mask or not, you live a long and healthy and happy life. And I certainly encourage you to live your life the way that you want to live it in the process, as I will be doing.

There's not a ton, but what there is through the years shows that cloth masks are worthless. There was broad consensus on that until Fauci flipped a couple months ago and started the "everybody wear a mask" campaign. Since then, the politicians and the media have beat that drum until most of the world bought it somehow. But the actual research is still what it was before COVID.

well said Shane. I was listening to a radio talk show from S.A.Tx thismorning and the guy was a doctor/priest and he is saying that unless you have the m95? mask you are wasting your time.

so why are we having to putting up with these mask requirements????

Nobody is putting a gun to your head, right? Initially, probably 80% of people in Abilene went along with it. But every week, more and more people are opting out. Business owners don't want to turn paying customers away. And people who aren't afraid to exit their homes are more likely to come into a business than somebody who is sheltering in place at home.

I don't know why media and politicians are so hell bent on selling masks to everyone. There's no money in it for them (directly from masks). Only thing I can figure is that masks help reinforce all the irrational fear that is keeping everything so disrupted, and this is a major election year. Some of them have actually bought into the mask religion and think that if enough people wear masks for long enough, it will somehow wipe the virus off the face of the earth and make it all go away. Obviously, masks won't do that. A vaccine won't do it either. Nothing will. Eventually, the overblown fear will fade away though, and we'll all be able to go on with our lives while we deal rationally and calmly with this virus, same as all the others.

We went to dinner with some friends tonight. Most at the restaurant didn't have a mask on. Maybe 1/3 to 1/4 did. Nobody said anything to anyone about it, either way. People just minding their own business and wearing or not wearing masks as they pleased. Imagine that.

correct, no one is putting a gun to my head. but if I want to go to HEB I have to have one on... if I want to go to another local store; I don't have to have one.

so is it time we all just tell HEB to stick it and go in w/o one?
