^^^^^ What he said. Goes for professional athletes, actors and whoever else doesn’t have a clue.

When the longhorns play in Baton Rouge (LSU DEATH VALLEY) the TIGER band will play a song that includes the lyrics of the opposing team performing oral sex on the tigers. (I'm an Aggie working in Louisiana and had to hear this more than I care to remember). Lol. All in good fun, all part of the fun of college football.

This is just another “sign of the times”. No politician or group of them is gonna save this country from being a craphole. It has happened all over this world and it’s our turn. This democracy has already lasted longer than any others. I thought this was coming twenty years ago. I’m surprised that it didn’t. If you’re an optimist, you might think we can save the country, but if you’re a pessimist (realist) like me, you know we can’t.

I played baseball at UT and if a single one of my brothers I went into battle with felt offended by a song they were forced to sing I would be right there with them.

I didn't think of the song as racist when I was in school but now that the history of the song has been revealed, I'm all for getting rid of it. The history of UT is worth more than a 2 minute song. We can all do better and finding a new song to sing before and after games is a very minor issue in the scheme of things.

We can do better, we need to be better has become a constant statement from what I have been hearing and reading. Guess it is starting to be the new catch phrase.

If you give this option then over half the team won't sing it because they feel oppressed and the remainder of the team won't sing it because they will stand with their brothers if they even remotely resemble a real team. Then you have an entire stadium of people singling a song that the team wants nothing to do with. How dumb is that? Just find a new tune to sing before and after games and start a new tradition. The Eyes of Texas is not that big of a deal.

I am offended that you would equate playing baseball with soldiers risking their lives going into battle. Very disrespectful.

If you can't understand the euphemism of a team going into battle I can't help you.

So what song do you think would be a good one to use instead?

I don't know what the new song should be but it could be anything. UT's got the money to higher the best group of composers in the world to come up with something.

They played "Don't Stop Believing" at a game last year and the stadium got their phones out, turned their flashlights on, and turned it into a new tradition in one game.

By the end of the season people wouldn't even realize they were singing a new song, especially if the team wins.
