I agree we shouldn’t go around destroying history. If you pretend it never happened history is bound to repeat itself.

However, in the world we live in today, those figures are not revered like they were 50-100 years ago. I don’t discount that we wouldn’t be where we are today without them, but the views of that point in history don’t reflect where America is today. My solution to their request to remove the current statues would be to relocate the current statues to a museum type area where people can be educated about the people who were revered during their portion of American history. I don’t agree with their replacement with only people of color, I think they should be replaced with a diverse mix of statues that more presently represent the progress that America has made.

The great thing about this country is you can chose where you want to be. If you don’t like the university or what it stand for then why would you want to go there in the first place. Antagonist should not win the day.
I’m sure he could find another school that better represents his beliefs. The statue didn’t appear out of nowhere a few days ago. It was there long ago.
