You don't have to be a "hate group" to make their list, you just have to advocate opinions they don't like. For example these groups are also on the SPLC "Hate Watch" list:

          - Family Research Council, a nonprofit, charitable and conservative Christian group and lobbying organization. It says its mission is "to advance faith, family and freedom in public policy and the culture from a Christian worldview."

-- American Family Association, a nonprofit group that promotes fundamentalist Christian values and opposes same-sex marriage, ****ography and abortion.

-- American College of Pediatricians, a socially conservative advocacy group of pediatricians and other health-care professionals. The group was founded in 2002 as a protest against the American Academy of Pediatrics' support for adoption by gay couples.

-- Family Research Institute, a Colorado-based, nonprofit that states it has "... one overriding mission: to generate empirical research on issues that threaten the traditional family, particularly homosexuality, AIDS, sexual social policy, and drug abuse."

-- World Congress of Families, a coalition that promotes Christian right values internationally and opposes same-sex marriage, ****ography and abortion.

-- Liberty Counsel, an international litigation, education and policy organization that says it’s dedicated to advancing religious freedom and protecting the sanctity of life.
Yep. The SPLC and the ACLU are as extreme left/liberal as it gets. They were behind the big stink about having a stone monument of the 10 Commandments removed in front of that courthouse here a while back. They scream tolerance but don't tolerate people who don't think like them. A couple of the groups on their list are not racist hate groups according to their stated beliefs. League of the South and Southern National Congress don't express hate toward others in any statements I have read. I can understand not agreeing with their beliefs but to label them hate groups seems a little extreme. This is straight from one of their websites....

League of the South Core Beliefs Statement

At its founding meeting in June 1994, The League of the South adopted the following Statement of Purpose:

"We seek to advance the cultural, social, economic, and political well-being and independence of the Southern people by all honourable means."

Our Core Beliefs Statement is a more detailed explanation of our views on the four areas set forth above - the cultural, social, economic and political.

          I. Cultural Independence

The League of the South believes that Southern culture is distinct from, and in opposition to, the corrupt mainstream American culture. Therefore, we stand for our own sublime cultural inheritance and seek to separate ourselves from the cultural rot that is American culture. We believe that

The South still reveres the tenets of our historic Christian faith and acknowledges its supremacy over man-made laws and opinions; that our Christian faith provides the surest means of securing the welfare of all mankind; and that our primary allegiance is to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Church.

Our strongest and most enduring earthly affections and allegiances are to those people and places closest to us - family, friends, neighbors, villages, towns, cities, counties, and States. Conversely, our weakest attachments are to far-off abstractions such as "the nation," "the environment," or the "global community."

Southern artists, writers, poets, musicians, and playwrights have produced world-class works of art and literature. Such endeavors must be nurtured and preserved for future generations of Southerners.

Southerners are a people bound closely to the land. It is more than just a resource for production; it is who we are. It defines both our character and world view.

Southerners have respect for human life, in all its stages, as a gift from God. Life should be preserved, nurtured, and protected.
          II. Social Independence

The League of the South asserts that Southern society is radically different from the society impressed upon it by an alien occupier. American society today is egalitarian and Marxist and is devoid of any grace or charm. In contrast, we believe in a Southern society that

Upholds the ontological or spiritual equality of all men before God and the bar of justice, while recognizing and rejoicing in the fact that is has neither been the will of God Almighty nor within the power of human legislation to make any two men mechanically equal.

Is structured upon the Biblical notion of hierarchy. In short, a recognition of the natural societal order of superiors and subordinates where Christian charity (as found in the second Table of the Law) toward our neighbors produces harmony and stability. Christ is the head of His Church; husbands are the heads of their families; parents are placed over their children; employers rank above their employees; the teacher is superior to his students, etc.

Recognizes and promotes the sanctity of Christian marriage as an image of the relationship between Christ and His Church; understands that loving and stable families are the backbone of society; stigmatizes perversity and all that seeks to undermine marriage and the family.

Teaches and practices good manners and the famed "Southern hospitality, which are outward manifestations of the recognition that our fellow men are made in the image of God and should be treated according to God's law.

Perpetuates the chivalric ideal of manhood - respect for, and protection of, our women, and the development of the virtues of honesty, courage, honor, and humility.

Values and sustains true freedom of association for individuals, families, organizations, and other human institutions.

Believes in the rule of law and the wise, benevolent, and righteous application of justice by ecclesiastical and civil authorities.
          III. Economic Independence

It is The League of the South's assertion that the system of fiat currency, fractional reserve banking, unfair trade agreements, outsourcing of jobs, and confiscatory taxation imposed by the American Empire have reduced considerably the Southern people's standard of living. We believe in an economic and financial system that

Has a monetary system where the currency is fully backed by gold and silver bullion.

Abolishes all forms of the "income tax" on individuals and families.

          Has no central banking system.

Abolished all taxes on real property, both during the life of its owner and at his death, and established allodial title to land as the only recognized form of ownership.
Levies indirect taxation (e.g. sales and use taxes, tolls, etc.) as a reasonable and necessary means for the support of government functions.

Enforces a "full disclosure" policy against banks that practice fractional reserve banking.

Sets reasonable legal limits on usury.

Establishes equitable and just trade agreements with foreign nations.

Keeps regulation of business and commerce to a reasonable limit.
          IV. Political Independence

The South's political ideals and principles are rooted in the Jeffersonian tradition as expressed in the Declaration of Independence. Namely, that our unalienable rights are a gift from God, not privileges that are granted or denied by any governmental authority; that a truly free people has the right and power to determine its own form of government; that governmental power should reside as close to the people as possible and that competing governmental bodies should have meaningful checks on one another's use of power. Another certainty is that the American Empire that now occupies the South believes in none of the aforementioned ideals and principles. To be truly free and self- governing, the South must throw off the yoke of imperial oppression. Therefore, The League of the South advocates the secession and subsequent independence of the Southern States from this forced union and the formation of a Southern republic. We envision a free Southern republic that

Is a true constitutional confederation of sovereign, independent States who separately order and control their own internal affairs while working in unity with their sister States to conduct foreign affairs.

Recognizes State representation in the legislature of the confederated States.

Acknowledges that the individual States have constitutional rights of nullification, interposition, and secession.

Practices a foreign policy of armed and vigilant neutrality (i.e. commerce and friendship with all, entangling alliances with none).

Maintains secure borders and strictly limits immigration.

Revives the use of State Militias in place of maintaining large, standing armies.

Does not infringe upon the individual or collective right to purchase and own firearms of any type suitable for self-defense.

Restricts the right to vote solely to those who are recognized as citizens of one of the member States of the confederation.
This Core Beliefs Statement is not meant to be a thorough discussion of The League of the South's vision for an independent Southern republic.

For a more in-depth treatment of these and other issues, see our Grey Book: Blueprint For Southern Independence (2004).

Here is a direct question posed on the subject of race...

Q: What is the LS position regarding blacks in the South?

A: The LS disavows a spirit of malice and extends an offer of good will and cooperation to Southern blacks in areas where we can work together as Christians to make life better for all people in the South. We affirm that, while historically the interests of Southern blacks and whites have been in part antagonistic, true Constitutional government would provide protection to all law-abiding citizens - not just to government-sponsored victim groups.

Q: Why does the LS seek to protect the Anglo-Celtic core population and culture of the historic South?

A: The Anglo-Celtic peoples settled the South and gave it its dominate culture and civilisation. We believe that the advancement of Anglo-Celtic culture and civilisation is vital in order to preserve our region as we know it. Should this core be destroyed or displaced the South would be made over in an alien image - unfamiliar and inhospitable to our children and grandchildren. We, as Anglo-Celtic Southerners, have a duty to protect that which our ancestors bequeathed to us. If we do not promote our interests then no one will do it for us.

          Southern National Congress Statement

"As Chairman of the SNC, let me make this abundantly clear the Southern National Congress intends to continue to represent the voice of the Southern people.

In the Preamble to our Constitution we state our purpose is to

          Provide a forum for the authentic voice of the Southern People to be heard in the councils of Federal, State, and local governments;
          Promote the traditional Southern principles of individual liberty and personal responsibility, reestablish those principles within a framework of lawful government with strictly limited and enumerated powers;
Advance the prosperity, welfare, and general interests of the Southern States and People.
The Southern National Congress is composed of a great number of practicing Christians. As such we recognize the Holy Bible as the Word of God, true and infallible. In the Revelation chapter five, we are given a description of the eternal worship of the Lord in heaven. The congregation there is described in verse nine, "And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation."

The Greek word translated "nation" is ethnos; the same root of which we have the term ethnic in English. If we as believers expect to spend eternity with people of every ethnicity, why would we spend even a moment of time on earth attempting to create discord?

We don't and won't. It is only those whose purpose is to cause discord among the Southern people (of any ethnicity) who will raise any banner of racism and self-hatred."

Haha! Sorry Bro but if I reach out, it won't be to ask questions! My temperament will not abide their sort of idiocy. I can easily envision that meeting swiftly turning into a face kicking event.

I missed that BLM wasn't on the list. I'm quite sure it was just some sort of oversight....

BLM isn't a hate group according to SPLC!? If I say white lives matter, I'm a racist... I believe all lives matter. Gotta love the double standard and hypocrisy of the left. It's "racist" or "hateful" to have pride associated with our southern roots and American southern heritage but black pride, Mexican pride, and gay pride is ok? They label anyone that doesn't buy into their progressive agenda a hate group. The ACLU and SPLC are hate groups and they especially hate white, Christian, conservative folks that love the constitution and our Republic. I am sickened by the racist neo-nazi white supremisist dirt bags and the hate that they spew but where is the talk in the media about the hate groups on the other side of the aisle? I am a extremely conservative white man of Scottish/Irish descent that is proud of my southern heritage and my ancestors that fought and died in the Civil War. That does not make me racist because I don't want to wipe true history from the books and tear down monuments that speak of that history all because someone got their little feelings hurt. This stuff ticks me off. I could care less what the color of someone's skin is and believe everyone has the constitutional right to voice their opinion peacefully and within the law. But as a conservative white man, I'm "hateful" in their eyes for not agreeing with the left and the Feces that erupts from their mouths. Why are we not allowed to have an opinion but everyone else is? Sorry, rant over!
