No, really while childish that debate was very civilized. Fifty years ago someone on that podium would have suffered a bloody nose and I'm not speaking figuratively. A hundred and fifty years ago at least one would have been shot. Two hundred and fifty years ago it would have been a duel to the death at dawn.

There was a time when calling a man a liar or worse had real consequences, today's society accepts it as normal behavior.

I truly miss those days and I'm sorry my grandchildren must suffer the world of today.
No doubt! I'd love to slap the **** out of some people on here.

Even fifty years ago in my late teens people were careful about insults and actions because they often resulted in a bit more than a slap. In fact a slap would have gotten a very big response.

Oh, it can still happen. The threat of spending the night in jail doesn't scare a lot of people. But yeah, I'd rather be hit with a fist than slapped.

Therein lies the difference. ... in those days you didn't go to jail for defending your honor or your reputation. Now with civilization protecting poor behavior, defending your honor is illegal.

True. Our coach used to put gloves on us, so we could "work it out".

I am glad you agree that Michelle should have been giving an all-out verbal punch to Rubio and Trump based on her heart felt beliefs.

Where I grew up not only the coach but the AG teacher and the principal did this. Marched off to the gym and get it on. Differences usually lasted about a minute. Your only other option sometimes was a paddle made from oak bed slats across the hind end.
Was a different world back then.

I have thought she was one of the best "guests" on the talk shows for a long time. She doesn't joke around much, and lays it out there without mincing words. Haven't seen her on O'Reilly lately--not wishy-washy enough for him.

Yep. And had gun racks in the truck, with guns in them. How times have changed.

Compromise is great, IF both sides have the same goal but just have different opinions on how to get there. But when one side wants freedom and the other side doesn't, I don't see how it is noble to compromise with those who want to destroy freedom.
                              Exactly right
If we had a congress full of real hard core conservatives nothing would get done
And thats a win for the American people in the long run. There once was compromise in washington....a long time ago....before all the dems turned into a bunch of social justice type socialist. There is nothing from this admin or the next dem. I want to compromise about. I want them shut down completely so my kids and future grand kids have something left of the country to work with

I enjoyed her speech and in a perfect world what she says would work.

The problem with implementation would be how to change the current system in one fell sloop. Especially since the type of conservatives needed to accomplish such a change are in the minority. There simply are too many types of political conservatives, fiscal, constitutional, moderate, ultra, etc. Like she said we all need to come together but can't seem to stop alienating anyone who drinks a different flavor of kool-aid.
