    12 or 20ga for dove

Just wondering what you guys prefer for the dove fields and why.

20 ga or 410 are my preference. Gun is lighter and the range is the same.

I use a 12 Gauge O/U for those long shot days and a Benelli 20 Gauge for those close "hangover" days.

I switched to the 20 last year and will never look back.....I killed more birds than I ever had and never got the old sore shoulder.

              410. Makes you take your time and make good shots.

i have both but prefer my 12 cause its the all around gun, shoots the lighest 2 3/4 or the big 3 1/2, so this way i always have the feel of the same gun..

I shoot a 20, my boy shoots the 12. Twin skeet chokes in both for early season, moving on to something tighter later on.

I shoot 1 oz loads of #7.5 shot.
Sometimes out of a 12 gauge SKB o/u and other times out of a 20 gauge Beretta 303.

20 gauge O/U - Skeet over Improved early in the season, Improved over Modified once they smarten up. I've always used a 20 for dove and quail. Break out the 12 for pheasants, duck, geese and turkeys.

12 ga. with 1 1/8 oz. I hunt the south texas white wing area and have alot of high flyers. the extra lead helps and the longer barrel keeps the pattern a little tighter at that range. if u are not gona shoot way out there then stick with a 20 that you are comfortable shooting.
