I appraised land all over Leon County from 1981-1984. I never saw a lion track there and would be surprised to find one there as ranches are small and lots of folks in the rural areas. That being said, the possibility of someone releasing a pet or an escapee from an enclosure is highly possible.
I do expect that black bears will inhabit the eastern part of the county in short order, if not already. Leon County is much better habitat for bear than lion as the Trinity River is a corridor for lots of wildlife.
