i guess I'm old school . I prefer a short piece of pipe pounded into the ground with a sledge. you get that nice ring when you sink one, and it flings 'em off when you miss close. And I WAS the 1981 Stepehen F. Austin intramural washers champ
I actually started playing "Rocks" (didn't have washers) at Canyon Lake in the late 70's. All we would do was cut a Lone Star can in half and bury the halfs, throwing the flat rocks at the cans. We finally started using washers, and played the one hole for a long time. I've been playing the three hole board game now for a few years, and really enjoy it, too. I believe that it takes skills on both setups.
Like Michael said, we played on Casey's three hole board all last week on the Frio. All three of our familys had a ball playing. And the 4th party at Casey's.. the washer boards got a extreme workout all day.
Some of the games lasted 15 minutes or more, some lasted 15 seconds..
If you are an expert at 21' one holer, you should be able to win every game at 12' with THREE HOLES!
BTW, I probably have a powder coater that will take care if it for us if they aren't loaded with work. Once Michael approves I can ask them.
I would be in it for 2-3.
Granpa always used the heel of his boot to make a hole in the ground for us to toss at. We sure had some good times. He didn't play none of this "leaner" or "who's closest" to the hole stuff.
You either made the point or you didn't. If you made one in, and the guy followed up and made one on top of yours, he took your point too.
