With Horace Gore and Jerry Johnston - as spoke persons. I can't think of any other organization with a louder two "toot your own horn look at me" cast.
Well except for the Drury boys - but that ain't exactly Texas now is it.

I think the backboard/no backboard issue depends number one on how far apart you choose to play, and how thick the knap is on the carpet.
We play at 21 feet, with a low knap industrial type carpet. Being that alot of our games wind up being on concrete, any errant washers could roll off the planet, under trucks, into grass, out of the light, etc....... Maybe right, maybe wrong......but that's the way we've always done it. If you move closer, or put some shag on the boards, the backboard would be less an issue.
I'll try to get pictures tonight.
BTW, I think Cameron should be given the chance to do those washers for us. If he can do arrow wraps, washer stickers should be a snap, and washers are cheap if you buy in bulk. I'd be willing to help with the leg work on that. Just thought he might be able to make beer money on the deal, and keep more spending in the "family".Last edited by Dale Moser; 07-06-2009, 10:52 AM.

Let's not put the cart before the horse on ordering.
Casey built a board that we took on vacation last week. Three hole, about 3.5" holes, with with carpet, 2 3/4" washers, 10' apart. We spent hours playing in Concan during the day. We enjoyed it, and so did the kids. I'm no washer expert so I can't compare other variations, but I know it worked well for us.
In fact, Casey and I built another board on Friday, and my wife got her dad to build one, too. My board was smaller than Casey's (I think mine ended up 13.5 inches wide and around 35 inches long). Jeanette and her dad found plans for one that was 2' x 4'.
We had all three at our party Saturday and everybody played on all three. I can't say that I preferred, or played particularly better, on one than another. We played with consistent rules (1, 3, 5 pt. scoring system, to 21, back to 13 on bust - I think these are semi-official AWAA scoring rules), but decided variances in board sizes, distance, and even hole sizes could be chalked up to home field advantage. I like the idea of keeping Jeanette's larger board around the house and using my smaller version as a "travel set."
As illustrated by the posts above, there doesn't seem to be a single standard for a washer game. For a recreational washer tosser like me, I don't need anything more difficult than the sets I played on last week. If i join a league like Rod (geek?), perhaps I'll consider changing some parameters. Otherwise, I expect I'll get quite a bit of enjoyment from my newly constructed boards!
