    Tossin' yer washers

Played a bunch of washers over the July 4th weekend but could not help but notice that even our small gathering had several different styles of washer boards.

    Questions

    1 Does size really matter?

2 Is there an accepted "standard" board set for Texasbowhunter.com? If so, what is it?

I'd like to build a set for the war chest but I'd like to use plans that are the most widely accepted.

    thanks

I am a 3 hole washer board guy.

    1,3,5 points respectivly.
    Game to 21.
Must not bust 21 or you go back to 11
11 to 0 and the game is over.

Those holes look way to big for the those washers (IMO)

I like 3 hole washers also, preferably without any carpet around the holes.
Reference my thread about the Fiddler's Frolics!

We always used PVC pipe in the ground with soft dirt or sand around it. Played to 21

I've always played single hole washers. I've only played a board washer once in my life. We dig a hole and put a piece of PVC pipe in the ground. We play 5 in the hole, 3 over the hole and 1 for closest to the hole. We play to 21 and you can go over.

I've only been pitching washers for a few years, so I don't have the experience some of you have. But I'm a single hole board washer guy......Only because that is what all my friends have. We play to 21, 5 points for one in the hole, 3 points for a leaner, one point for the closest to the hole if no one sinks one. And we do enforce the 11-0 skunk rule.

3 Hole washers is like kissing your sister.

We make ours about 18"X18", with about a 14.5" high backboard, covered in industrial type carpet on them......only because that's the way the 1st ones we played on were built.

I'm with Heath though......those holes are way to big for those washers.

We put a carriage bolt through one side of the base, with a nut inside leaving several inches of bolt hanging inside. Put a wing nut on the end and it's a great place to store the washers for travel, and keep them attached to the board for storage.

An eye-bolt in the front of each board with a proper length of string tied in between makes proper set-up at the proper distance easier.

We play 3 in the hole, leaner is 2, and closest to hole is 1. 7-0 is a skunk, and 11-1 is a skunk. When we play 21 or bust the games go forever......

Not a fan of the 3 hole. Just two holes 21 feet apart and 3 1inch washers each... Oh and cold beer

we use about a 18" x 18" box with a 6" backboard, 6" off the ground (framed with 2 x 6's) and a hole in the center. Closest to the hole is 1, leaner over the hole is 3, and in the hole is 5. With a rug from the dollar store stapled on top, fits perfect with the deminsions. I'll try to get some pictures

X2. Most of the 3-hole boards I've seen are only about ten feet apart. You might as well put a big funnel around the holes cause thats too easy. Single holes 21 feet apart takes real skill. Don't forget the 12 oz counter-balance.
