Jacques-Imo's Cafe is one of the hottest tickets in New Orleans for anyone looking for "real Nawlin' food." Find us uptown at 8324 Oak Street.

I’ll vouch for Deanie’s as well. We’ve been to the fancier places but just plain enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Deanies.

        Same.

Based on what I see, read, and hear, New Orlean’s is the (unwashed) arm pit of humanity. I’ve heard great things about the food, the historic architecture (I’m into both), and I’ve heard that the Museum of the Pacific War is an incredible museum. Knowing all this, I am still not inclined to go. Why not venture off the beaten path while you’re out that way and experience Louisiana through the small towns and agricultural communities that surround it?

To all the snowflakes saying don’t go, leave as quick as you can, etc….NO is just like anywhere you go. You go looking for trouble and you’ll find it. My wife and I walk from our hotel to the French Quarter area and even Bourbon Street and never felt unsafe.

She is correct. You can find awesome Cajun food if that is what you really want in and around the small towns from New Orleans to Lafayette. Travel some back roads around Crowley, Breaux Bridge, Rayne, and Lafayette. You may be surprised what you will bump into. I would take Lafayette food over New Orleans food every day of the week!

But, if you are set on New Orleans the ones mentioned are some of the better ones.

In the French Quarter there's a rustic little joint called Pierre Maspero's. Its not dress up bougie, but nice. As far as bars go.....throw a dart.

If you are in the mood for a NICE dinner, Commanders Palace is hard to beat. Turtle soup is best I’ve ever had.

                      YEP!

                      Mr. B's
                      Drago's
                      Brennan's
                      Dookey Chase
Pascale Manale's (Brennan family just bought it.)

                      Neyow's
                      Barrow's Catfish
Any of Emeril Lagasse's restaurants is always good, especially sitting at chefs table.

                      This guy knows as well.

We stay at the Windsor Court.

New Orleans isn’t a great place to find Cajun food.

My sister was a sous chef at Brennan’s a couple of years ago and this was her list she would give people. Obviously, some of these places might not have survived.

Bingo, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso and on all have their dirty arm pit sections as well. Not to mention some smaller meth overrun towns.
