    NOLA Recommendations

Going fishing in Venice on Thursday, October 26th then driving up to spend the rest of the weekend in New Orleans.

Pretty sure I’ve locked down a place to stay but would like to get some recommendations on places to eat. Last trip pretty much stuck to the restaurants around Bourbon Street and wasn’t very impressed. Would like to keep it mostly Cajun / Seafood.

Also wouldn’t mind golfing one day if anyone has played any of the courses around there and had a good experience.

I recommend you get out of NOLA as soon as possible.

Dragos. Get the grilled oysters. It’s my only must have in New Orleans.

Drago’s on the Riverfront for charbroiled oysters is a given.

There’s been so many places that shut down since Covid that I’m not up to speed on what is still open.

Cajun Blake would likely have the most up to date info.

We liked Deanies, it was close to where we stayed.

I was going to go one step further and say my only NOLA recommendation is don't go at all.

All I got is stay at the W and eat breakfast at the ruby slipper on the way out of town the next morning

We spent our honeymoon there in 1968. There was this one club that advertised a 300lb stripper. Pretty sure she is not still there though.

If you are in the mood for a NICE dinner, Commanders Palace is hard to beat. Turtle soup is best I’ve ever had.

Willie Mae's Scotch House for the best fried chicken on the planet. Short Stops for the best Poboy.

When at home we rotate thru a few fancy places and some in the ole neighborhood:

                            Mr. B's
                            Drago's
                            Brennan's
                            Dookey Chase
Pascale Manale's (Brennan family just bought it.)
                            Neyow's
                            Barrow's Catfish
Any of Emeril Lagasse's restaurants is always good, especially sitting at chefs table.

Deanie's by far is the best seafood in the quarter. Get the seafood platter.
Pelican Club, a little up scale, but you get a lot for your money.
Drago's is good, I would go to the original location in Metairie.
                              Redfish Grill.
Golf: Bayou Oaks south course or TPC in Westwego.

Let me know if you need a freezer for your Tuna while you stay.
