Seems like huberman is currently supporting doing just 60 seconds every morning. Not that he doesn't also support going longer, but you can get almost all of the benefits from just 60 seconds. And 60 seconds seems a lot more doable for people than multiple minutes.

I have only done cold showers. Even that took me a while to work up to 5 minutes. I've considered setting up a chest freezer, but im concerned im too much of a weinee to do it routinely. I get up between 415 and 5 for work and the last thing i want to do is hop in ice water. But i do struggle with 2 things. Waking up and sleeping. Maube it would help enough to justify the suffering.

For those asking about how much the freezer runs during the day, it will not be that much. The thermal mass of all that water will help it maintain temp. Think of how long it would take 50 gallons of water to increase 3 degrees in an insulated container. Of course there are factors that will effect this such as where the freezer is located.

I've done it several times by falling thru pond/lake ice while winter trapping muskrats and beaver. There is no way in Hades would I ever do it on purpose!!!!

Saw one of Joe Rogans podcasts with Rick Rubin and they both talk highly of the benefits they get from embracing the suck of a cold bath.

I’ve enjoyed the cold showers in the winter for a while now. Once it gets to March around here the tap just doesn’t go cold enough.

I highly recommend Wim Hof’s book, but don’t do the audio version. It’s not easy to listen to.
Yes i used silicone to seal all the gaps inside the freezer. It works great

Wim Hoff...the ice man ...has done much to popularize ice plunges. Central to his approach includes breathing techniques. Here is a beginners video. Can get much more intense with practice.

Nope. Nuh, uh. Not even if I was told it would save my life!

I have been doing ice baths for the last couple of months. I try to get in at least 3 dips a week for 2-3 minutes each time. It has done wonders for my soreness after working out 4-5 times a week. Both of my boys do it at least twice a week. They are 13 and 15. My oldest is doing power lifting and has upped his ice bath's to 5 times a week. The mood change and the way you feel is real. Sometimes I wonder where this has been all my life.

I tried a cold shower this morning, I only lasted 30 seconds.
Certainly an expereince, I will try again tomorrow.

You put a lot more faith into a Chinese wired metal box that is plugged in than I do.

I’d pull the plug out of the wall for the 4 minutes I were in it.

You have a pretty good point here. If you’re only staying in for a few min, might be good idea to unplug for that time.

I'll try anything once but man this sounds brutal... I hate getting out of a warm bed to a cold house.. Jumping into a chest freezer full of 40degree water makes me cold just thinking about it. But if it works I'd try it.

You should try! I think it works well and the science and studies say it does as well

I’ve been doing some reading on this as well. Can you post a picture of your setup.
