I have bone spurs and stenosis of the lower two lumbar vertebrae. Went thru three rounds of Lidocaine shots in my back. Going back to the ortho doctor Tuesday to schedule a nerve ablation (sp?) to relieve the pain. About 12 years ago went thru three rounds of epidurals for pain in my neck- the last one finally did some good but starting to have pain in my neck again.

        Getting old

When I was young I tried to get all I could. Now I can’t remember what it was that I got when I did.

Have you considered surgery? I doubt anything will relieve your pain better than getting rid of bony overgrowth.

Think my grandpa would say this a half dozen times each time I'd go visit

Right after a groan from getting up, usually. "It's hell getting old but it beats the alternative"

You slipping upstairs to visit your sister-in-law, Johnny?

Ortho doctor said that would be the last resort. As long as I stay moving doesn't bother me too bad. But getting out of bed in the morning and if I sit too long is the real problem. What ****** me of is that before my insurance would cover burning the nerves I had to do three rounds of Lidocaine in my back first. The last one, two weeks ago, did absolutely no good but cost me another $800.

Surgery went great. So far all pain is gone. Only time will tell on how long it lasts.

That operating room had some serious equipment in it.

Congratulations on getting immediate relief! Did they trim or repair your disk or perform foramenectomy/laminectomy?

Good for you. Had the same thing done about 10 years ago. Used a wheel chair to get in the hospital at 6 am and walk out at dark. Backs great now but the rest of me keeps falling apart.

Youth is wasted on the young.
