I’ve known people who have gone in for back surgery and awoke immediately pain free. Rehab helped them retrieve their range of motion with some effort but, all in all, each has said it was worth doing.

I actually DON’T go out of my way to delay or avoid surgery if it makes sense. What’s the upside to delaying if all you’re doing is kicking the can down the road?
A highschool friend slipped off and down an attic ladder and was forced to wait almost a year for surgery. Recovery was far worse and surgeon said it was he waited so long

I work on my knees a lot. Titanium knees don't do well with that.

My pain is only when I am active. Even standing for long periods hurts. I started wearing a rucking backpack with some lumbar support, that has helped me tremendously. I came to that conclusion after a hunt where I put on a lot of miles... pain free. But walking without weight on back, I can about a mile before I have to give my back a break. I have L5-S1 herniation and a pars defect.

My son-in-law hurt his back stepping off a fork lift. He had the surgery. Since then, he has gotten progressively worse, is totally disabled and has part of his foot amputated. Surgery is a roll of the dice. I’ve talked to several guys who wished they had never had it.

I’ve had back/hip pain since the seventies when I tried to climb a tree with a dozer. That’s fifty years ago and I think I can make it until I’m reduced to ashes without a doctor rolling the dice on my spine.

My wife had a knee replacement a couple of years ago. It went great.

She recently had a complete shoulder replacement surgery on January 4th. The same orthopedic surgeon did the surgery. She is having a tough time with her shoulder and arm. We went to a neurologist last Wednesday and found out that she has severe trama/ damage to the radial nerve in her arm. This has been a tough 5 weeks for her. We are praying she regains some feeling in her arm and use of her hand. Her arm is not totally paralyzed, but she has what is called "claw hand". We are hoping physical therapy will help with her condition.

You just having some stuff trimmed up or getting hardware? Hardware install takes a while to get back up to fighting shape
