Nudist Resort In Porter? WTH

Any of you Portericans remember another pond down closer to community drive. You accessed it off the feeder road. There was an older lady that owned it and you could leave $2 on her porch. If she was home she would give you a little slip of paper. I caught hundreds and hundreds of hand size bream out of that pond in high school. Some crappie and bass too but I love going down there with the old zebco and catching a ton of perch. I think the pond was dug too build the community drive overpass or something like that. It was filled in and I think it's somewhere near where rosewood funeral home is or just south of that. Close to the driveway of NC high school at the time it was built

As Curt mentioned the one in Porter was fished out years ago but I have a feeling that’s it’s full of ditch pickles and Copper Nose now. Probably a lot of Coppertone Copper Heads too.

That was probably it. The house wasn't at the pond. It was on 494 close to the home Depot entrance now. Little white frame wooden house. Sometimes on the weekends the lady or her son would drive down in a car to the pond and collect $2 from everybody if you hadn't paid at her house

A little Porter History. That property was owned by the Crippen family. Robert Crippen was a commander on one of the original space shuttles. That lake was dug as a borrow pit to build the new Hwy 59 in about 1970. In the 70s sometime, a kid drowned in it while fishing so Granny Crippen closed access to everyone. This lake was known to have some big bass. So at age 13, in 1986, at the First Baptist Church of Porter, I pleaded my case to Granny Crippen to let me fish it. Had to bank fish, no boats, couldn't bring more than one friend at a time and a few other rules, but permission granted. From that day until the day they sold it I was the only person with permission to fish it and I fished it all the time. It was awesome.

Mrs. Crippen sold it to someone that made it a pay-to-fish place and they ruined my playground by letting anyone with $5 in my honey hole and fished it out. Next thing you know, they have ziplines, anchored bounce houses and all kinds of bull ****.

Those people sold it again and the first nudist resort came to Porter....Beaver Resort....I **** you not. Now Porter has always had a competing number of churches and beer joints, but nobody was ready for the nudist and it was the talk of the town for sometime. Eventually they changed the name to a more respectable Emerald Resort and people kinda forgot about it. I don't know who goes there, but I bet they ain't the pretty people.

There are several nude resort & rv parks in the area. A really big one between Brenham & Navasota. There are 3 around Plantersville including a Gay Nude RV Park

And as far as naked communal living with women, how could you sit down in a chair one just vacated. There are times when they can be slick enough to slide right off!

95ish. I was in high school. It was only nude on the weekends if I remember correctly. It didn’t turn into emerald resort until sometime after 2000.
