    Bison Bowhunting Input

I've been daydreaming of starting to check some "bucket list" type hunts off the list. One of those is Bison. I'm not opposed to high fence if its large and doesn't really affect the hunt beyond the animals being in the area. I'm also open to free range. I want to be able to save up and schedule so the draws on out of state really aren't feasible. Out of state, non-public is fine as is in-state. I'd like a mature bull, but does not need to be a big "trophy" just not an immature animal.

    Whatcha got for recommendations?

If you go on a high fence bison hunt, be sure and back off at least 10 yards from before you shoot him. Most I have seen are dang near pets.

Hey man, I'm looking for 2024, I'm looking in to Texas Hunt Lodge I think it is. I've got a friend who wants to do this. I've looked at Canada and some other draws, seems like a giant PITA, so we may just get it done here in TX. If you want to get together with us I'm sure we could book at the same time. PM me if interested in getting something going.

Yeah want to avoid that, not for me. I've seen it from pets to pretty dang skittish. I figure that's a place by place thing.

Hunted last year at Vermejo park. They have the largest free range bison herd in the nation. Also the largest contiguous ranch in the United States at 550k acres.

Buffalo are not hard to kill or get close to in most cases. There is a good reason they were able to kill dozens at a time.

But, it’s cool killing something so large with a bow.

Bison is not a hunt, it's a shoot anywhere you go. Good luck and fill the freezer.

Yeah right go to the Henry Mountains or Boockcliffs in Utah and tell me its not a hunt. Pretty uninformed comment
