RR, these two have a history of "shady" hunting practices. I say "shady", because it's pretty well known within a hunting circles how they conduct themselves. They basically claim "we didn't know" every time they get caught, and they have been busted in other states for similar illegal activity. Well how many times can you "not know", or "rely on the guides" after being busted for the exact same thing multiple times? Are they incapable of learning anything from past experiences?

I'm sure they didn't follow the rules to some extent, just don't understand the rules myself. Question: If you hunt a corn field or any standing corn, are you in fact illegally hunting over bait? Or is the problem that they picked the corn and piled it up for the deer somewhere else? I really don't know the answer but it seems that most of the shows I watch show folks hunting deer and turkey in corn fields or chasing mulies and pronghorn in alfalfa fields.

Yep, they're habitual offenders and IMO excessively seeming penalties are appropriate for habitual offenders.

The article also states that they were charged with hunting without permits, using baits, and out of season.

Not what the conviction was. The conviction was conspiracy to commit Lacy act. They killed deer, that the outfitter used illegal means to attract.

They and many other clients were part of a multi year string against an outfitter. They would not turn states witness against outfitter and sued the Feds for a few of the harassment that state/feds engaged in trying to get them to to testify against outfitter.

I’m not defending wether the Bowmars know baiting etc was going down or not, just clarifying events

That’s actually incorrect. Josh is an idiot though. Truck video and spear video take the cake on lack of brain cells.

Here's some light reading about the case:

An anonymous tip that turned into a 5-year investigation is nearly over for Nebraska wildlife officials. In what’s being called the biggest poaching case in state history, investigators have linked over 100 people from 21 states to the illegal take of big game animals and transporting them across...

This thread has some funny stuff!

I watched his video on how to tie a d loop. He confuseded himself doing it. The burning of his own truck was special too.

So what have they been convicted of in the past?

Sounds/looks like you guys don't like these people and assume guilt so you want them busted and fined.

I understand they are shady and probably do all sorts of unethical crap. But this is America not an I feel you are bad so lets bust you Country based on feelings.

They skated as 4 more serious charges were dropped. Plus the government hit them where it hurts, thier wallet. But there are 30 others involved these two made their kills public. Cudo's to the guy for taking that huge buck with a longbow, lol

There's been a bunch of threads on these characters for like 6 months now, it's definitely habitual. They didn't just settle to reduce charges to $133k fines for nothing. There's years of violations.
