Yeah the guides and outfitters should have shouldered a majority of the responsibility and maybe they did ?
But I do object to that meathead using a spear to kill a bear on bait to boost his clicks on YouTube

I personally don't even care that he speared a bear. What is incredibly disrespectful is how he ran up to the bear in its death yell and held it up for the camera. And then watched the video, presumably numerous times during editing, and still thought it was a good idea to post. After seeing that, he should have lost all hunting privilege's, for good.

He did more to set back hunting in that moment than anyone hunting over corn could ever dream to do.

So you guys don't like this couple (I never seen them before this thread).
So what game laws did they themselves break to justify a 133k fine?

I read most of the article but it was so obviously slanted and they tried way to hard to make them look bad without saying much of anything. I hate the crossed State lines BS..since when is crossing State lines so bad? And they used a truck and a trailer! Hang em up!

                Hunting over bait.

And no, $133k was not justified in that article. I'd bet it's based on the price of that size deer and turkey in that state though.

Nebraska has laws, and they must be followed. Their failure to follow the law resulted in the fine. Or their ignorance of the law, does not make them innocent, or their actions excusable.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Lacey Act have some provision where if you are banned from hunting in one state, you are banned from hunting in all states?

Regardless, they should lose their means to make a living using wildlife as the medium. Let them try a 9-5 job for a minute. I bet they come begging for forgiveness within a month.

Good grief, who wrote that article.

Celebrity bowhunting couple are fined $133,000 for taking part in Nebraska's worst ever poaching ring, which saw animals including turkeys and wild deer slaughtered using illegal methods and out of season
                    Slaughtered I tell ya.....

The Bowmars were found to have used pickup trucks, SUVs and trailers to unlawfully transport deer and turkey, both whole and in parts, to their home in Ohio, among other places.
Killed so many it took pickup trucks, SUVs and trailers to transport all that meat!

Don't get me wrong I think they are Dbags. The writing style just seemed to add extra color that wasn't necessary....or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Social media and attention whoring really screws up a lot of things. It'll be society's downfall eventually.

Sounds like an out of state hunter can't take his deer home?
Sounds like Nebraska wanted some fame.

Looks like a cwd thing you can't trasnsport brains

Do yall think an average Joe, someone with no social media following, would have received the same fines?

Exactly what I was thinking. Just over the top journalism with almost no real facts. If you're slamming someone as guilty and evening saying the fine amount then list what they're guilty of. I'm guessing it was just hunting over corn so they had to exaggerate the whole article.

Oh that's right. I wonder if they have ever claimed it's "all natural" too. They come across as the type that would.

I don't know, I would be curious how the others that got busted faired. I think that would tell us if these were treated fairly. I also think an average Joe has a job he must do full time, kids, wife, and probably doesn't make all his money on IG, and therefore wouldn't post all this for the world to see. So he might just get away with it.
