I'm trying to find rules about tagging drop lines by TPWD standards, and all I found was a "throwline", which is defined by:
"For use in fresh water only. A fishing line with five or less hooks and with one end attached to a permanent fixture, a float attached at or above the water line, and a gear tag. Components of a throwline may also include swivels, snaps, rubber and rigid support structures."
The drop lines we use do NOT have a float attached. Would they still count as a throwline by TPWD?
Second question, are gar a game fish now? I know they have limits but if they're a game fish then you aren't allowed to catch them on "throwlines"...
