I use Rhodes bros Taxidermy in Kerrville for all my mounts. They really do some excellent work. The Euro's on a Mesquite/custom plaque go for $250 and they come out museum quality.
The Boar they did for me looks like it is alive. Euro's about 4-5mo turnaround and full mounts vary depending on critter.

        Taxidermy Rates/Waits

I haven’t had one done it years, but the last one I had done was a wall pedestal and I paid $650 I think and it took 10 months. That was roughly 7 years ago.

If a taxi says less than 6 months I’m very skeptical of their work.

Mine just keeps me guessing. But he’s of the quality that it doesn’t really matter.

A deer cape is either fully tanned(leather)or dry preserved which is probably what you mean... A raw cape is fleshed and then rubbed with a preservative powder(mainly borax) and then mounted green(raw)... This how most cheap taxidermist are treating customers skins..

Fully tanning a skin to mount is considerably more expensive but far superior..
Thank you for fully explaining this. I did not, sorry.

I waited over two years for my last shoulder mount I dropped off in December, 2019. I thought $600 was high, since my previous one in the 90s was $400. I went to antlers on boards after that. A nice photo on a fracture frame takes less space and money, but I do enjoy looking at the mounts every day. Prices of everything are higher for taxidermists so they have to pass it on.

I have used Seacoast Taxidermy in Corpus for the last 15 years. Before that I used A friend of mine Brandon Roach but he has since moved to Washington state. Seacoast has done two of our deer and six ducks. Last deer I took him was around $700.00 and a 8 month turnaround a couple years ago. He works out of his house and has a shop in back. Great work and fair prices.

I agree. But I haven’t seen good museum quality taxidermy work on this thread
I just checked out a trophy collection from both Africa and USA and was shocked at how bad a taxidermy work people think is awesome

Bad pictures of some great work @ $750 9 month turnaround
